FYI. Looks like 2.5 Hybrid owners need not fear 2.0 Ecoboosts on the streets.

Old thread was in my feed. Now with 2025 the Hybrid has AWD and 4k tow options.
And Eco AWD Vs. Hybrid AWD non-4k they are equal. See attached results.

Pretty nice.
Except the "range" of my hybrid is 700 miles. Almost every single tank.

Is that with the gear ratio change and old power and torque numbers? because the HF55 puts more on the ground now. It had, like 80s V8 torque at launch, now it's got like early noughts V8 torque at launch.

Electric Motors are much faster than Gas Engines from a standing start. For us civilians at least.

Top Fuel Dragsters are still faster than any E Dragsters in the quarter mile though.

Your range would be halved if you made a habit giving your “hot rod” the beans:)

I’d love to buy a Lobo Hybrid with 300 combined horsepower & 30mpg combined!

Edit - it would have to have paddle shifting like the RAV4 hybrid

And now the 25 Hybrid's improved drivetrain has truly made them much quicker. Very comparable stock to a Ecoboost now. I didn't buy a Hybrid for power, but it's nice to know it's there. With AWD they are really quick off a light when desired.

Really surprised no one has come up with a hybrid optimized tune yet. Not so much for power, but for max Hybrid usability.

Whatever is current, these numbers were straight off a dealers lot. AWD both models.
Not Tesla fast, but my own experience is very impressive off the line at a stop light of you want or acceleration on the freeway. And my other truck is an 5.4L V8. Love my hybrid, and I generally do near hyper mileage and drive reasonably with Low selected to cause regenerative braking in town.

This is some motor Trend data from last month. I just got around to seeing it today.

The far two right columns are mine.

EB with 4k has a gear ratio advantage on take off versus a non 4K EB. The 0-40 mph lead would therefor be smaller without it.

Hybrid is 0.5 seconds quicker 60 to 80mph and 0.2 seconds quicker 40-70 mph which leads to the 45-65 mph 0.1 second that MT stated.

Who would have thought the hybrid would win a 40 mph roll race to 90 mph by 0.4 seconds!

This 4k EB ran the 1/4 mile in 15.4 sec at 88.9mph
The Hybrid ran the 1/4 mile in 15.9 sec at 89.7mph

That's awesome for us.

I do believe the non-shifting eCVT gives a large advantage to the hybrid.

What drive mode/fuel/tire pressure/tonneau cover or not?

So mine seems pretty good from a roll too, came round a cloverleaf onramp the other day, and there's a sport compact right on my ass, all fartcan and attitude and as soon as it straightened out I sent it, with all the beans, and seemed like I gapped him by the entire 300y or whatever of broken line, he was just getting to the end of the solid part when I looked back.

Sit a five or six year old 120,000 mile Hybrid next to a 120,000 mile Ecoboost both in the same condition.
Five years old is generally off bank financing,

And look at the resale value, just wait and then get back to me. I won’t be too smug.

So have we had a proper dyno run of a 2025 Hybrid pop up anywhere yet? I'm really curious what the torque curve shows.

Kind of an odd post when we're talking about performance... also if you intend to sell every 5 years for new (doubt we're talking about financing for used), you may as well just lease your vehicles. It's also irrelevant for the large percentage that keeps vehicles until the wheels fall off. 🤷‍♂️

I'm not even sure that the hybrid vs turbo resale actually favors the Ecoboost, most of what I can find on this forum search suggests hybrid has the better resale value. Got some solid data showing that Ecoboost mavs hold value better than the hybrids? Even if it does, does the resale value make up for the savings in fuel and other consumables (brakes, oil, etc.) over 5+ years?

Seems like a lot of hybrid owners suffer from acceleration envy.

Given the number of Ecoboost owners posting in the 2.5L Hybrid sub-forum (there's three just on this page!), I think the envy is flowing in the other direction myself. 🤔

So did the Ecoboost slow down that much for 2025? Chart says 0-60 is 8.02 sec. My 2024 FX4 does it in 5.9 sec.

Did a little research, that graph is wrong. Ecoboost still 5.9 to 6.6 0-60. And hybrid around 8.

I never look to see what sub-forum a post is listed under lol. I’ll respond to any post on the forum. Especially if they make reference to an EB in the post title.

Fear the Big Turbo. It is coming. Worry.
