One Blown Engine on the 2024 - Please read the original post to absorb the entire story. The purpose of the original post was to see if anyone else who owns several Mavericks has had more than one "Loss of Power" situation - not necessarily engine failures. The idea was to try to understand if this was a fluke having two vehicles lose power on the freeway or if it's more common than one may think. I do agree it's ridiculous to have this happen twice to one owner with unique vehicles of the same make and model with the same powertrain.
I still think you hit the gear dial...but that's just me.:shock::shock:

Maybe a Horse and Buggy?
I can’t find the article, but I read that a horse and buggy will take crap on you at least once a day

My '22 hybrid XLT with 78k miles. Well maintained and all maintenance done early. Last week in 90 degree heat I got the engine save mode and warnings. Towed it to my dealer before driving it very far. I was given a loaner and they verified it was the check engine code for long block replacement under campaign 23N06. Ford knows this is happening enough that they are stocking the engine blocks in Detroit. Dealer said they'll have the engine block this week and begin work. The loaner hybrid Escape gets same MPG and looking like repair will be faster than expected. Yes, I'll likely keep the Mav if engine replacement goes well.
It’s too bad we even have to go through this to be honest. All the experts here were insisting that only two or three Mavs would have the issue based on made up numbers from their heads. Most other car makers with this type of issue are proactively replacing the engines. At least Ford is prepared.

Two Mavericks. Two for Two.
I get it why you'd want to move on. I've gotten pissed at a few German cars I've owned over less and sold them.

but here's the thing. DON'T dump them in a rush and take a bath on them. don't bitch to prospective buyers (dealership trade or private party) about your experiences.

just get them fixed up, sell one like normal and buy something else, then do the other one.

Actually had a 2023 ecoboost AWD with tow package for a few months. I was really excited with the idea of having AWD as being a quicker and more fun to drive vehicle but in the end felt the Hybrids in Sport mode are equally as fast 'feeling' with less turbo and transmission lag.

I also had a lot of experience driving bronco sports with the 2.0 ecoboost engine while our hybrids were in the shop getting various recall, repair, maintenance work. The Maverick is a significantly better driving vehicle than the Bonco Sport...perhaps because of a longer wheelbase.

Looking back, maybe the Maverick ecoboost was the one to keep.

Only one for me.
My 2022 Lariat Hybrid had the Powertrain malfunction and went into limp mode back in March. Thankfully I was in a 40mph zone.

Had engine replaced at 39,000 miles, and given a free 3yr/36,000 mile warranty from Ford.

All good 5,000 miles later.🤞

Yes, Ford was incredibly responsive when it came to getting a tow truck out (had acknowledgment that a tow truck was on it's way within a couple minutes of requesting roadside assistance through the APP. Also, there wasn't much back and forth with the dealer and Ford corporate - it was a quick "were going to replace the entire long block assembly.

The First and only oil Change was at 7500 Miles (Still had 20%+ oil life per oil indicator). Yes, broke the engine in very gently keeping to speed limits, no high revs, varied the throttle, no road trips at same RPM for the first thousand miles.

I should clarify the 2024 that had the engine failure was also a hybrid and not the ecoboost engine.
I would think keeping the RPM the same would generally be good during the break-in period.
A road trip is the Italian tune up, assuming you are avoiding city driving, it's supposed to help the parts and seals fit better, especially when it is brand new.

That is actually one of the worst things to do during engine break in.

You need to vary the rpm’s - hybrids do this naturally - but stay below 4000.

Also, save the Italian Tuneup for well after break in :)
