Sudden power cutoff at highway speed, just a split second blip

As I started writing this I thought of something. I’ll get to it later.

I have a hybrid.

So, while driving on the 4 lane highway at about 55, I more or less punched the accelerator while changing lanes to pass a loafer. I had accelerated about 1 second when the power cut off completely for about half a second and then resumed.
It felt like a sudden fuel cutoff or something, not gradual at all.
Anybody else experience this?

Now, what I just thought of is this; could it be that while accelerating toward the vehicle in front of me, before fully changing lanes, I activated the collision sensor and cut power or something? The dash alert light didn’t go off during this. It didn’t feel like the brakes activated either, just a blip in power.

Any help or opinions are appreciated.

Oh, had a few shuddering issues lately too, probably not related eh?

Were you really light on the pedal just before this?

My guess is: you caught mid-transition from Gas to EV back to Gas and all that takes a second to coordinate.

You are not the first person to post something like this.
Someone else posted they lost power on the highway and manged to limp off.

I would take it easy in these hybrids. They do weird things when you push them it seems.

I dont think I was.

I kind of remember I was already accelerating enough to be off strictly EV at that point, probably already doing 60 mph.

I have nailed it many times at slower speeds and never had this issue, it just took off like a rocket. I may not have been in strictly EV mode at those times either though.

However, I will definitely keep this in mind, thanks for the input.

One of the nice things about the transition from EV to ICE in the Mav is how seamlessly it transitions, but it makes it hard to pinpoint what mode(s) it’s in when something weird happens.

Since this was the first time this has occurred I may have the wherewithal to glance at the gauges and see what they are telling me should it happen again.

My last vehicle was having power loss issues like this, for different reasons, so I am super sensitive to changes like this.

I think you might be onto something.
Tough one.

My family has this happen years ago in a RAM 1500. No idea what the fix was.

My hybrid lost power while driving 70 plus on the interstate. No dash messages, no readings, no nothing. Truck would not respond to gas pedal. I was able to get to the shoulder and allow the truck to power down to a stop.
I turned it off and waited a few minutes and it stated back up. This has happened twice. The first time I had it one month.
the dealer had a technician drive it for two days with a computer hook up.
The GM says he’s going to have a field engineer clip on a computer sensor if it happens again, to get the data reading.
the service Dept said I should have left the key in the on position after it happened a second time.
this is a scary scenario

Might this be related to the just mailed Customer Satisfaction Program 22B39 12 volt battery cable overlay, i..e., the bad connection 'twixt the low voltage and high voltage cable?

Entirely possible at least in some instances but it's not the only potential cause.

See the thread on 22B39 and anyone with a Maverick hybrid built through May 13, 2022 should strongly consider making an appointment with a dealer to get this addressed if you haven't already had the 12V harness replaced.

Just saw this posted by Tommy on another site. I searched here and haven’t seen it posted yet.
