While driving on the freeway, the red alert 'engine coolant over temperature' popped out on the screen all of sudden. I exited the freeway immediately and pulled over to the road side and open the hood, it's shocking that the front coolant reservoir are TOTALLY EMPTY. Luckily there is an auto parts store nearby, grabbed a jar of coolant to fill up to max line (used about 3/4 jar) and drove carefully back home.
When the car cooled down, I checked the level of coolant, it already dropped below the min line again...... But it won't leak when it parks (doesn't see any liquid on the driveway ground), only leaks when driving.
Can't imagine if that warning popped out when driving in the the middle of nowhere....

Sent the vehicle to the dealership today, waiting for the update from them.

Update: Got a call back from dealer, they said it's coolant pump leaking and need to order the parts to replace it. The reason is: Last month I went to them for fixing several recalls and a 'check engine light on', they replaced some part in cooling system and forgot bleeding the coolant system, so they messed it up.
Right I am contacting Ford corp to get a rental car because the dealer doesn't have loaner car.

There was a run on leaking from the HV battery coolant pipes IIRC. That was 2022/early 2023 builds.

No visible leaks and large loss of coolant = ominous, hope it's not the worst, however the worst case scenario is you're getting a new engine courtesy of Ford.

That sounds scary.... Wish the dealership will check thoroughly including the engine.
Last month just visited dealer for the check engine light (battery heater? ) and several recalls, can't imaging visit them again now.

Since most of time we drive locally, and engine doesn't kick in frequently so overheating warning didn't pop out. Until yesterday we drove on freeway, engine works on high speed so that it was over heat

if he has over 60k miles that is unfortunately not the worst case scenario...

Hello. Could you please send us a PM with your VIN and the name and location of your Ford dealer? I'd be happy to see how I can assist you with this concern with your Maverick.

If it only leaks when running then it’s leaking as it flows, so not the radiator, coolant tanks, etc. Maybe just a hard to find hose or connector. That doesn’t narrow it down much but it’s a start.
