Just curious:We just had our second Maverick lose power while driving on the Freeway.
First Maverick was a 2022 Maverick (XLT Hybrid Luxury Package w/ 24k miles build date February 2022) that lost power while driving on the freeway. We were fortunate to doge a couple lanes and able to pull off to the side. Shut the vehicle off and turned back on and immediately brought to the dealer to get checked out and caught up on a recall. Dealer performed Three recall services 22b39 relating to loose 12 battery connection, 22E09 Update Powertrain Control Module, 23C41 Turn Signal Outage Detection Failure. Haven't had a loss of power since the service was done in early 2024.
Second Maverick was a 2024 Maverick (XL Hybrid 13k miles Build date of February 2024) that lost power on the freeway, pulled over and heard a loud sound and started smoking. We were fortunate to doge a couple lanes and able to pull off to the side. Turned off the engine and got vehicle towed. Dealer said Code P0301 was the only code that showed up which pertained to cylinder 1. They did a compression test on cylinder 1 and no pressure and found the piston was gone or in pieces...they said they found parts of it in the oil pan. Ford replace the long block assembly with no questions asked.
Any other people with multiple Mavericks have have complete loss of power? These occurrences have spooked us and we are swapping the Mavericks out of our fleet. The major concern is that we have already found two ways to lose power while driving on the freeway across two unique vehicles and there are still other know ways for this to happen out there such as Customer Satisfaction Program 23N06 relating to the long block being replace if engine fails. On our 2022 there were also a couple recalls relating to 'if engine fails' there is an increase of fire due to accumulation of engine oil fuel or vapor Recall 22S47 and Recall 22S27.
We really enjoyed the incredible gas mileage and compact size of the Mavericks but in the end we have decided that Safety is a Priority and the Mavericks need to find a new home.
On the 22MY with battery cable possibly main issue.
Was the cable inspected back when that recall originally came out, and deemed acceptable back then?
How long until this event where it appears it was actually not?
Also - that 22E09 recall had an update - recall 24S33, which must have come out after you got the others done. It's a correction to the prior one you got. Because guess what yours caused.
The 23S27 recall for '22 was due to the unknown run of trucks that likely got a bad crankshaft bearing. Software update to catch the issue before you get the effect the '24 got. Hopefully you got those recalls too if your '22 was in the range. That recall is the solution to the 2 you referenced.

Being a fleet vehicle, did you get to use the MyKey restrictions?
I see plenty of them around here - always curious if the feature was used.
