Things like adaptive cruise control, collision avoidance, emergency braking, Lane centering, collision sensors.. these are all safety features that should be standard on every trim level or at the very least available options. They should not be locked behind at $7,000 Lariat trim upgrade! Take the Chevy Trax for example. LS is 22k, fully loaded active 26k, the driver's confidence package adds adaptive cruise control and all it's included sensors and safety features for $800. That safety package can be added to any trim except the LS. I drive a Transit 250 for a living, average 350 miles per day across Missouri and Kansas. Adaptive cruise control and collision avoidance have saved me multiple times, possibly from death. People break checking commercial drivers, oncoming driver crossing the center line while texting. If Chevrolet can add those features to a trax for $795, Ford should just step up and put them in every vehicle. The more vehicles these features are in the less it cost to produce. If manufacturers were concerned about their customers safety and lives these features would be in every vehicle.

I do think they should offer this feature standard in vehicles now. Toyota and Nissan do it no upcharge. It was a main selling point for me to buy the maverick because on long trips you can't beat it. You can attach an ankle weight to simulate force on the wheel so it won't prompt you every 20 seconds or stick a half full water bottle in the opening. Just make sure to keep an eye on the road cause i have had the truck wander when it gets confused with the lines on the road.

According to SEMA Market Research, over 60% of new vehicles sold back in 2023 had ACC. I'd imagine that number is even higher now.

I think we don't get it standard on all trims (like many automakers do) because of Ford's greed and hubris. If anyone would bother to compete in this segment (Subaru Baja? Please?), Ford would probably change course pretty quickly.

It can be turned off in the Lariat. PITA to do it when you don;t want it on but doable. I am "adapting" to it
Does it stay off, or do you have to turn it off every time you start the truck? I'd hate it if I had to jump through hoops to disable it every time I started up.

That said, I don't mind anything being an optional add-on for an extra cost - have 100 different trim levels or options, that's fine with me. But ACC is one of those features I really want to be able to decline or disable, especially if doing so will save some money. It was ACC and the fake-leather seats that turned me off the Lariat. It was the lack of a power seat option that turned me off the XL (I could have lived with the steelies that I think are ugly).

Folks need to remember that the feature they think is essential may not be universally loved. Some people think ACC makes them safer - I think it actively encourages distracted driving. To each his own.

toggle button on the steering wheel left pad switches between regular cruise only and adaptive cruise. it remembers last position, so if you turn off acc and use only regular cruise it stays like that.

same thing for lane keeping assist / warning. how it works is configured in the MyView menu button (steering wheel right pad switch), but turning it off/on is done with a button on the end tip of the turn signal stalk.

Nah, they're too greedy. When even a base nissan sentra has it, you know they're just doing it for profit maxing.
That's how I felt about satellite radio only available in the Lariat. My base level Chevy Spark from 10 years ago has it standard.

I guess that the question is whether ACC is a luxury item or a safety item.

Unquestionably a luxury / convenience feature.

It is not self-driving or anywhere near it. It is a radar cruise control that also steers if it can clearly see lane markings. It's helpful for reducing driver fatigue, but using it in heavy traffic is the opposite of a safety feature, in my opinion. it says right in the manual (I'm paraphrasing and summarizing) that while ACC brakes there is no guarantee it will brake early or hard enough to avoid a collision. if you set it on follow distance 2 or higher in traffic, I guarantee that traffic will pass you and cut in.

hell, follow distance 1 is too far, in places like LA, Chicago, Atlanta, DC. you'll get cut off constantly.

luckily for me, I have chosen not to live in those areas, and I find ACC extremely helpful. but it's not a safety feature at all.

The two biggest disappointments with my 2025 XLT Eruption Green are the lack of adaptive cruise control and interior color options. Just couldn't afford an upgrade to a Lariat. Other than that, I love everything else about it.
Same here. If I could have added ACC, different interior colors besides the blue and brown seats, it may have been the most perfect vehicle I have ever owned. :)

ACC is only about speed - the steering is a different feature (Lane-Centering) that's not part of ACC itself, though on the Maverick I think they come in the same bundles.

Lane departure warnings is a separate feature still, which my XLT has.

Can’t use ACC without lane keep active on the Maverick.

It's still a separate feature, even if they depend on each other. Not sure on other brands/models if the two are tied together, but I wouldn't assume they are. I drove a rental years ago that had ACC but no lane departure warning/assistance.

I couldn't agree more, on 2022 I got the xlt luxury pkg thinking the acc and push button start were part of it,at least they finally put the inteligent key as part of the xlt, my daughter 2013 prius has it, it make no sense in 2025 fetching on my pockets for the maverick, keys should be standard for the XL as well.

for 2025 they finaly offered now the rear sliding windows as option , they should offer the acc as option as well.

I'm not asking for free stuff, give me the option to add it without switching to another trim full of stuff that I careless about it.

Great thread, and good video as well.
They didn't offer the rear sliding window as an option for XL's or XLT in 2025 (wish they would have offered that as an add on as well). EDIT: I believe it was only offered as an add-on for Lariat and Lobo trims.

I have it in my Lariat and while it works fine, I wish the system would stop telling me to put my hands on the wheel (which is where they are ALWAYS) when the real issue is that a long straight piece of road (damn modern highway engineering) is so common. Having to wiggle the steering wheel just because the truck thinks my hands are off the wheel is irritating.
I had to upgrade to a Lariat to get rear parking sensors. Why couldn't I get them on the fully equipped XLT I started with?
Weird, my XL has rear parking sensors.

OK well this is a Maverick forum and for the Maverick they have to be used together. ACC uses lane keep assist in the Maverick.
