I guess Maverick is the little engine that could. You just know that GM is watching with loathing and hatred and a desire to take those sales away from their Detroit rival. So pony up, GM. Show us what you can do.

Need to know profit margin on each model. If you have a small margin ( Maverick ?) you need to sell more cars. Also, it seems the volume reflects that people are not put-off by the pricing. The Maverick is still a low-cost purchase in the car world. My Lobo was < 40K out the door. I feel I got a good deal for my money.

Pumping them out and selling them in record numbers!
Given car prices and interest rates, it's the max of what the average American can afford these days. When it was reintroduced in 2022, the XL was supposed to start at $19,995. Today, the XL starts at $28,145 - a 40% increase in 3 years! $30K for an entry level pickup is a failure of economic policy, over regulation and corporate greed. When you've got the only thing the average person with just a little financial discipline can afford, you're going to sell a lot of them.

The profit margin is probably quite a bit higher on the Maverick now than it was in 2022 or 2023.

GM did outsell Ford in trucks for 2024, and Ford seems to be sitting tight on their F-150 lightning and going with a smaller EV truck. I just hope the success of the Maverick opens the door for more smaller trucks. Trucks are too big now.

Ford Maverick Maverick Sales Total 11,956 in August 2025, up 16.4% 1756934750627-ji

They need to put a fork into Lincoln and kill the brand. What an embarrassment.

HRG
But if they made 2k each on 12k Escapes with a Ford badge on and 20k each on 2.5k Escapes with a Lincoln badge on, guess where the bigger profits are coming from

$21,495 and you’re right that is where Ford wanted pricing to start an now is where Ford wants it to be.

Ford couldn’t sell sedans anymore but they sell trucks in bunches for a lot of money too.

That’s the Maverick. If you don’t like it pay more for a ranger or f series.

Just pay more! Why didn’t I think of that?

The point I was making was that Ford is selling a lot of them not because the Mav is so amazing (it’s fine) but because economic, regulatory and corporate policies have created an environment where a vehicle like the Mav is a hot ticket item because people are being forced to make compromises they wouldn’t previously have made.

That’s not an indictment of the Mav or Ford.

Not to go totally off topic but look at the sales figures for the "fake" Mustang versus the "real" Mustang. The Mach-E is out selling the Mustang almost 2-1. LOL

The Mach-E is a nice vehicle, but they should have just skipped the giant ipad for a more normal dash and called it an electric Puma. I'm well into my old man yells at cloud phase of life, but anymore I kinda have to wonder who new muscle cars are even for.

Good to see the sales numbers still good for the Maverick though. Still one of the most sensible vehicles on the market, and they more they sell, the easier it will be to get parts long term at least.
