Given car prices and interest rates, it's the max of what the average American can afford these days. When it was reintroduced in 2022, the XL was supposed to start at $19,995. Today, the XL starts at $28,145 - a 40% increase in 3 years! $30K for an entry level pickup is a failure of economic policy, over regulation and corporate greed. When you've got the only thing the average person with just a little financial discipline can afford, you're going to sell a lot of them.Pumping them out and selling them in record numbers!
The profit margin is probably quite a bit higher on the Maverick now than it was in 2022 or 2023.Need to know profit margin on each model. If you have a small margin ( Maverick ?) you need to sell more cars. Also, it seems the volume reflects that people are not put-off by the pricing. The Maverick is still a low-cost purchase in the car world. My Lobo was < 40K out the door. I feel I got a good deal for my money.
GM did outsell Ford in trucks for 2024, and Ford seems to be sitting tight on their F-150 lightning and going with a smaller EV truck. I just hope the success of the Maverick opens the door for more smaller trucks. Trucks are too big now.You just know that GM is watching with loathing and hatred and a desire to take those sales away from their Detroit rival.
But if they made 2k each on 12k Escapes with a Ford badge on and 20k each on 2.5k Escapes with a Lincoln badge on, guess where the bigger profits are coming fromThey need to put a fork into Lincoln and kill the brand. What an embarrassment.

$21,495 and you’re right that is where Ford wanted pricing to start an now is where Ford wants it to be.Given car prices and interest rates, it's the max of what the average American can afford these days. Today, the XL starts at $28,145 - a 40% increase in 3 years! $30K for an entry level pickup is a failure of economic policy, over regulation and corporate greed. Just pay more! Why didn’t I think of that?If you don’t like it pay more for a ranger or f series.
The Mach-E is a nice vehicle, but they should have just skipped the giant ipad for a more normal dash and called it an electric Puma. I'm well into my old man yells at cloud phase of life, but anymore I kinda have to wonder who new muscle cars are even for.Not to go totally off topic but look at the sales figures for the "fake" Mustang versus the "real" Mustang. The Mach-E is out selling the Mustang almost 2-1. LOL
