I’m going to do my first oil change soon at around 700 miles (break in done) and then every 3000 miles / 6 months whichever comes first afterwards. When I post pics of my toasty oil I expect the trolling from the “10,000 Mile Club” to be intense:)

That is fine with me. Besides having “mechanical sympathy” for my turbo, I also have psychological sympathy for the trolls 🧌
With a turbo you are making the correct decision. Many videos on youtube with turbo motors were there is a screen on oil line feeding oil to turbo. Mostly saw on Ford V6 twin turbo engine as it is used a lot more than a maverick 2.0 engine is. It clogs with 7 K mile oil changes at about 60 K miles. Turbo fails,.

I didn't read through this thread so I am sure we will see all the,,,,, I change mine at 10 K and have 400 K miles and my turbos are fine .

As far as the MANUAL SAYS folks. LOL> When I worked at chevy dealer we had government cars for service. They also followed the manual recommendation Many many failed engines all clogged to holy hell. Yea yea oils are so good now. Oil gets dirty same way it always has. Oil can only hold so much gunk.

Now tell me I am wrong I can take it

yes the manual says 10k miles we have proof of that.

We also have proof that oems are paid (in carbon credits) for putting longer oil change intervals in the manual by EPA. same goes for lifetime fluids in transmissions. all the "engineers know best" info is thrown into question then in my opinion.

So take from that what you will. It is at least NA.
Where's 'proof' of this?

I guess I’m old school thought. I did my first oil change at 2k. Computer read 1k engine and 1k electric more or less. I know they say engines have come a long way over the past 50 years, but a $90 oil change just seems like cheap insurance. And I feel more comfortable. 😀. I worked for an organization that changed oil for thousands of vehicles every 3k. Engine failures were very rare.

Antidotal stories aside.
Hasn't oil performance and future longevity been tested by folks using Blackstone and other testing labs??
As I recall all have come back good for further use. 🤷‍♂️
I'm sure if even one came back bad, we would have read about it, over and over...... 😉
For hybrid or Ecoboost? There have been plenty of Ecoboosts showing fuel dilution concerns at OCIs shorter than what the OLM would follow. I wouldn't hesitate to follow the OLM for the 2.5. I would test to see if a 2.0 was a fuel diluter or not before making that decision.

Just do what the manual says, and take it to a quality service center who knows what fluids are recommended.

Cars have changed. Who used to:
  • Run lighter pressure because you had non-belted bias ply tires and ran light loads
  • Topped up your batteries w/ deionized water
  • Tuned up your car every 12k miles: plugs, cap rotor and points, and maybe even swapped ignition breaker points in your dual point distributor every 6k miles (What's a distributor?)
  • Rotated your radial tires keeping the tires on each side on the same side (no cross rotation)
  • Adjusted your drum brakes because they weren't self-adjusting
  • Oh, and for the anal camp people, lubed all your ball joints and tie rod ends with a grease gun. (Does anything have a Zerk fitting anymore?)

To me it seems just…wrong…to have the luxury of changing oil every 10k miles. But that’s what the manual says. I did go with full synthetic. I figure with such an infrequent interval, who cares if it’s expensive.
Pretty sure that the specified oil for the Hybrid is 0W-20 synthetic. I have questioned the Service Advisors many times about this for my 2020 Escape Hybrid. I don't think you need to ask for it, but I always make sure. However, I am sure that the dealers will always use synthetic.

My manual lists WSS-M2C962-A1 as the only option, which is a Ford part number for the oil, so it cannot be an either/or situation. If you don't choose full synthetic then I wish you luck.

I'm amazed at the degree of certainty people express on this subject and on global warming. All I know is that it is very, very rare for clean oil to be a detriment to an internal combustion motor. I also know that the earth is coming out of an ice age and has been long before the industrial revolution. If we had sympathy for future generations, we'd all jump off the roof of the tallest building; but then there wouldn't be future generations. It doesn't hurt to go 10K between oil changes until it does.
'Until it does".....Come on. You, me, the God of oil and the truck itself will NEVER know the difference between a 5000 mile change and a 10,000 mile change...guaranteed. These trucks will be long retired and in the junkyard BEFORE one ever fails due to 10k intervals. I'm talking the Hybrid for sure...but I'd even make that bet on the EcoB also. It's 2025 buddy...not 1970. Motor oil is motor oil.....just BETTER!!!! :p :p :p

Was the 10k oil significantly discolored?

That’s the Blackstone oil analysis I want to see: the first change at 10k miles.
You can’t go by oil color, I thought everybody knew that one.

Yes, oil is better (I'm retired from the oil and gas industry) but it's not even a question of how good the oil is. It's a question of contaminants. Your response is the perfect example of the Dunning-Kruger effect.

I guess …..but the funny thing is my response is correct. 😎

Ahhh.. the old oil change interval debate. Where, regardless of what side you’re on, you’re kinda sort of correct. Yet, they are as old as the internet itself. If you enjoy oil change debates, you should go on gun forums and join the “What is the best caliber” debate that also continues to rage. 😂😂

They also debate gun oil & cleaning intervals. Some clean & oil more often than others - regardless of calibers:)
