If you need a additive for your oil you chose the wrong oil. They do more harm than good.
Oils have a very balanced additive package that makes base stock so good.
Those are blended with specific percentages. Oil additives throw that percentage and balance way out of whack

I could not find a single previous instance of "Prolube" in a forum search, so you are the first to mention that particular brand.

For the record, Ford specifically says NOT to use oil additives. But I expect one of the "I don't care what Ford says; I change my Amsoil every 3,500 miles" folks will be along to flesh out this thread shortly. 😀

60 years ago--- yea maybe---now probably doing more harm than good.
Yes, oil technology was different 60 years ago, but so was oil additive/treatment technology, so I'd wager it wasn't worth doing then either and probably did more harm than good.
