I don’t like it so I don’t use it. The hill start assist is worse, because unlike auto hold, it can’t be turned off.

Until I had one of the recall updates, the hill start assist would activate even on the mildest of hills.

When I would try to go, I could always feel the engine and transmission fighting the brakes for a couple of seconds. That can’t be good for it.

After the brake light recall I was very happy when the hill start assist quit activating on every piece of less than perfectly level ground.

I'll chime in to say that I really want to like it and tried to make myself use it. As a EV fan, it was a feature I was excited to have because why should you have to hold the brake pedal when you are stopped. But in reality, the transition from hold to go is super abrupt and and not smooth enough that it makes the ride unenjoyable, especially for passengers. I've found myself just leaving it off so I'm not jerking around passengers when leaving stop lights, stop signs, etc.

I only use it at long lights where I know I'm going to be sitting there for more than a few minutes. I was already used to using it in our '22 Volvo XC60, which is really smooth off the line with auto-hold on, so I just turn it off after I'm moving again.

But like others have mentioned, it's not a very smooth takeoff in the Mav, so I'll usually put my foot back on the pedal and turn it back off again before I get the green.

Don’t have to hold your foot on the brake pedal at a light? Yeah, sign me up.

I've never used it. I don't want to get in the habit of taking my foot off the brake and thinking the vehicle will stay still
I sometimes i use Auto (brake)hold but never keep it on. I like the ability to creep up, as cars sometimes tighten up at stop lights or entering the tunnel of torture car wash.

Only used it once to see how it worked. Never since day one.

You are not alone. More annoyance than helpful. Who needs hill start assist when it’s a automatic…
I think you all are talking about two different features.

Yeah, I don’t really care for it, but I understand it. I hate the delay in taking off.

OK, question for the peanut gallery. When using auto-hold, are the brake lights lit? I would assume they are, but have never confirmed.

HRG
Yes they are, but not when you use the parking brake or you are regen braking.
I didn't like the jerk when Auto Hold released, I have a Mazda CX-3 and it releases smoothly.

I didn’t know this was an option until about a month ago when I accidentally turned it on. Once turned on, it made it difficult to creep forward, inch by inch, to get my Maverick all the way into my garage without running into my work bench. Once I figured out the problem, I turned it off.

I don’t hate it. I just don’t normally need it. I would use it for something like pulling a boat out of the water.
