Just a thought on the auto-hold brake feature

European cars have hand parking brakes, hill starts are easy - hold the hand brake, gradually release as the clutch engages and press the throttle. I've driven manual American cars with a foot opereated parking brake, hill starts a bit trickier but doable with practice!

Some of my old stick shift cars required me to use my left foot on the clutch, right toes on the brake, and right heel to goose the gas to keep the car from dying at an intersection

Gosh, just advance the hand throttle a bit! Of course, you may also have to readjust the spark advance on the other side of the wheel a bit, too . . .


Anyway, I generally like having the auto hold, but I think it needs to release with a lighter touch of the throttle--I have to turn it off for very small changes in position, such as maneuvering the ball to the trailer.

That is what I have been doing. I turn it on when I am driving around and off to park. Pretty simple push of the button and when I leave I just hit it when I'm hammering the drive mode button to get into Eco.

Not just European cars my Buick before my Mav and my Chevy before that had the hand brake. The hand brake is superior.
