Cruise control is a great option. The only thing wrong with cruise control is the IDIOTS you have to share the road with.

When I drive on the highway I set it and use the +/- switch to tweak my speed to traffic. That way I can keep my foot off the gas. Never set for more than 9 over posted limit and preferably 4

Got a speeding ticket a few months back that could have been avoided if my old car had CC.

I see so many posts regarding the desire for cruise control. I don't get it. I hate cruise control. I drive from 300 - 1000 miles a week and it is mostly highway miles.
Every car I have had for the past 15 years has had cruise control and I don't use it. I have tried to learn to like it, but it isn't going to happen. I have even tried adaptive cruise control and I hate that. The feature is mentally exhausting and irritating. Is there anyone else who does not like cruise control?
I don't like it!! But only when there's too much highway traffic which causes me to tap the brakes constantly or makes me turn the cruise off and on😉. I did notice the Mav cruise works at 25 mph which is kinda nice when I'm driving down a long residential street by schools where police like to set up speed traps. Awfully hard to keep the speed at 25 without it creeping up which takes a really light foot.

In most cases ot improves mileage, reduces driver fatigue. Found it to be a pain unless there is no traffic. Constantly resuming. That when my wife got a Subie with acc. Big improvement just turn it on and forget it. Shame on the Mav to get acc you need to most top of the line package they have. Acc should be available on lower trims and or packages.

CC is now standard on all trim levels of the Maverick for '23.

I don't like hitting the +/- cause it often causes my Camry to downshift abruptly and I'm a mizer with mileage😉. Have not used the cruise on the Mav much to-date. And is the 9 and 4 universal or what😂?

That's a good thing for sure was talking about acc. Will edit the thread. Thanks.

As a truck driver I get frustrated with drivers who don't use their cruise. They pass me then slow down. Then they speed up when I try to go around them. I think it's inconsiderate to the vehicles around you not to maintain a speed. My 2¢

Unlike most drivers, I understand that big trucks can't just step on the pedal and pass quickly like cars and slow cars make them go even slower when it comes to hills. You have to remember, most drivers are centered on one thing - them! In their minds you don't exist except as something that gets in their way.
As for CC, I use ACC all the time. It keeps me within the speed limit and one thing I haven't seen mentioned here is it prevents me from speeding up from attempted intimidation from nitwits behind me that ride my bumper. Subconsciously and without CC, I would speed up if someone rode my bumper. Screw them! With ACC they can ride all day and my speed stays the same.
I have noticed some have followed me for miles without passing on a 2 lane road and then when it opens up to a 3 or 4 lane, they fly by as if it was my fault that they are such poor drivers that can't pass on a 2 lane road.

My wife doesn't like CC and rarely uses it because of constantly having to adjust the speed because of traffic.

Then she drove my sister's car that has Adaptive CC, and absolutely LOVED it. I had to upgrade to the Lariat + Lux + CP360 + CP360 Assist just to get that ONE feature... (OK - I might have done that anyway, but... this way I get to say it's her fault. LOL)

I don't think you're the only one who hates CC, but you're likely in the minority.
I started using CC regularly about 20 years ago after getting three speeding tickets in 18 mos in my 2001 Olds Alero. It was a stealth speed demon, meaning you'd think you were traveling about 63 MPH until you glanced at the speedometer and saw you were doing 80.
I have since come to appreciate CC for helping me maintain a consistent speed, improve my fuel economy, and avoid costly speeding tickets.
ACC is nice too, though I wish the gap distance between my vehicle and the one in front of me weren't as long as it is. It makes me appear inattentive and is large enough for other vehicles to whip into the space causing the brakes to be applied suddenly and forcefully.

Not a big fan of cruize control either. If I turn it on it's only on an open road, pretty rare occurance out my way, or when I need to stretch my leg. I prefer to be in control of my vehicle, I pay closer attention to the road with cruize off.

I don't know about the CC on your vehicle but my present vehicle gives me full control of my vehicle. If I want to stop, I use the brakes, to speed up, step on gas. Once I leave off the pedal, the speed goes back to where I had it set. If I had hit the brakes, I press resume and the vehicle goes back to the speed it was set for. I have full control whether ACC is on or off.

I agree. Cruise doesn't make driving any easier. You still have to pay total attention and modulate your speed, just with the buttons on the steering wheel instead of the throttle and brakes.
