I doubt a two Maverick will happen but never say never. It will really come down to whether or not Ford believes there would be a large enough market to justify a truck like that. Plus, let's not forget that Ford was very unsure of what the market would be like for the Maverick and they priced it very aggressively in the first model year. Jim Farley even admitted that they were completely caught off guard by the popularity of the Maverick, it far outsold their expectations. In 2023 Jim Farley said:

" Unfortunately, we completely under-called the demand for Mavericks. So, I’m not confident even with the capacity increase that we’re going to have a lot of Mavericks available to everyone."

With limited production availability of roughly 150,000 units IIRC, Ford will price the Maverick at what the market will bear to sell that many units.

If they could produce 250,000 Mavericks I'm guessing the price would be less as they'd need to stimulate demand. But by essentially putting a cap on the production, they've increased demand and therefore can increase the price for it.

Zero chance for a two door. Anything with two doors ends up failing as a model in the long run with limited production

Fun to look at for a sec, like click bait.
I’d have no use for that.

Here is a good reason Ford won't repeat history.
" Coming back to the OG Lightning, the reason for shelving it was the sales numbers it was clocking. In its first two-year run, Ford managed to move just 11,563 examples, and around 28,000 examples in the second run of five years. These numbers may sound good enough to keep it in production given it was a niche model, but the F-Series has been the best-selling model in the States for over four decades. To put things into perspective, Ford sold close to 1.9 million F-Series trucks between 1993 and 1996, and less than 12,000 of these were SVT Lightning. That’s around 0.65-percent of the total sales. So, yeah, the Lightning’s numbers were pretty dismal and not worth keeping the assembly line busy for. "
Low Lightning sales likely had as much or more to do with price as with number of doors. SVT vehicles are not bargains.

For those who desire a 2 door basic pickup, albeit electric, you'll have the Slate. It can be transformed into a 4 door. All options are a la carte, even electric windows. Downside is range and once optioned the way you like it, cost.

Very true. But this article is describing high dollar 2 door variants that also would have low sales in my opinion. Pretty sure when any maker starts a project for anew vehicle they look at market research to fond what the public is buying. I have read many posts saying Ford, GM, Dodge should bring back 4 door sedans "I would buy 1". Yet if those were selling they would still be made. In 2024 3% of truck sales were 2 door. The local Ford dealer who specializes in having 2 doors in stock has half a lot of them. Brand new 2024 F150 2 doors available. I know they are mostly work trucks but even contractors are opting for trucks that can haul 4 guys and their tools to the site instead of 2 trucks.
As soon as I saw the article was Photoshop/AI nonsense, I didn't bother to read it.
