I just had my first haul in my Maverick. It was a PVC board 3.5" x 8ft. Thru the rear window of my Lariat, it lacked 2 inches of being totally inside the cab angled as it was. Pass thru might have been a better solution but then again I could have carried a 12 footer as it was.

Looks like Ford is already considering a midgate. They applied for a patent for one:
https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/forum/threads/ford-patent-on-midgate-type-opening.57336/

This link takes you directly to the story about the patent:
https://www.theautopian.com/patent-...ve-the-maverick-the-one-thing-it-truly-needs/
There was also talk of this and a rough drawing by Ford in 2023. We'll see if it comes to fruition. The cost is everything. These truckletts are already getting too high in price. Sales have already dropped from last year.

I'd like to see how the Maverick sales would drop if Ford came out with a Ranger Hybrid.

Probably not much unless they were Ford loyalists- the Tacoma i-Force Max doesn't get great MPG but is essentially that for likely the same price as a Ranger would be

I don't want pass through but I would want a 5 foot bed and the rear window goes down with a push of a button!

Thing is the Ranger interior is smaller than the Maverick. Plus Ranger hybrid would probably start at 40k.

I did not realize that the ranger had a smaller interior. That's interesting.
Time and market interest will tell.

I originally thought the midgate idea sounded cool. But then I did a mental inventory of the hay, feed, wood, mulch, and misc things I haul in my trucks and realize I don't have that many things that I could drop the midgate for to use for hauling something. I guess there would be something that would fit the bill at some point, but it isn't something common that I do routinely today.

What about a Basketball Hoop or maybe a long swizzle stick. 🤢

If there was a demand for such a vehicle GM would have continued making it. But the cost to redesign and retool was more than projected sales. They never sold well. In 13 years they sold 600,000 total Chevy and Cadillac versions.
It's funny. I went to the grocery store yesterday. It's only 2.5 miles from my house. On my way there and back, I saw two Avalanches and also two other Mavericks!
