I always wondered how they prevent the backdraft of exhaust fumes into the cabin on those Silverados? On station wagons and hatchbacks you aren't supposed to drive with the hatch open because carbon monoxide can get pulled into the cabin 🤔
A pass through in a pickup is different than the opening of a wagon or SUV for exhaust entry. With a wagon, the exhaust is dumped into the area behind the vehicle where the air swirls around and it is easily drawn in through the window. With a pickup, the air flow over the cab would prevent the exhaust from being drawn to the pass through.

Yes there are trucks with bed pass throughs. And there are more of them coming. Unibody construction allows it. BEV makes it even easier. It's a no brainer to give customers more functionality in a smaller footprint. Also frunks in BEV trucks are brilliant.

Of course, the Neanderthal knuckle draggers will hate it, but they hate everything. And they'll also invent bogus arguments out of thin air, trying to convince everyone that a good idea is a bad idea.

Utility would depend on the size of the opening, if it could be 4' wide would be great!
But that may be an engineering impossibility. Smaller openings would be good for some stuff.

Is it really necessary to call folks that may disagree with you "names" - what does it accomplish?

I've mentioned this before, my 2006 Subaru Baja had a passthrough from the bed and worked as described by the OP. I used it a lot. It was handy when I needed it and you wouldn' t even know it was there when I was not using it. I'd sure like to have it available on the Maverick

It will depend upon the price point. We had one member who just had his Maverick totaled from a t-bone crash. He decided to purchase an F-150, due to the Maverick becoming too expensive for what you get. In his opinion.
Hmm, base model Maverick is $24k, base model F150 is $39k. That's 60% more! Plus it's an apples to oranges comparison, the F150 is obviously more capable than the Maverick. It's also way more truck than many people need. The Maverick is as popular as it is because it's fills a market need for an economical and practical utility vehicle 😀

Some folks feel otherwise.

I loved both my mavericks but die the price point of the lariat I just couldn’t justify buying another one.
I moved on to a new F-150. Got a great deal so I couldn’t say no.

I would rather have a power rear window like the Sport Trac. This picture was before I added an air deflector. With deflector, the window could be left open 1-2" even in the rain.

Meh, still an apples to oranges comparison. My other car is a compact SUV. Even if I was offered an unbelievable deal on a Ford Expedition, I wouldn't get one because it's way more vehicle than I want or need. No way I'd give up the daily practicality (mpg, maneuverability, ride, etc) of a compact SUV for an Expedition, regardless of the price. The same applies to the Maverick and a F150.

Here's the price difference directly from the owner.
Thank you.
My Lariat Maverick was $39,500. The 2024 F-150 I now have was $40,500. To me, that’s not enough of a difference to justify getting another one even though I loved it.
I'm not saying you're wrong. What I am saying is, at $1,000 difference, lot of folks would be hard-pressed to pass up the F150. Even though it was a 2024.

Live, and learn! I didn't know that there was a silverado that had a pass thru, but I don't need a big truck. The small truck in the video, is interesting, I don't care for the look, and the starting price of$41,500 before options is beyond my price range altoghther. Thanks to this forum, members will find an answer to any question we throw at them. Love my Maverick the way it is!

Last pickup we had was a Chevy Avalanche. We hardly ever used the midgate.

Never again.

It leaked, the seal got filled with dirt.
We brought home a load of dirt and the inside the rhe truck smelled for weeks.

The only advantage was that when it was raining I could fit a 4×8 sheet in the dry. Until the tonneau started leaking.

Next gen Maverick should include a pass through from the bed to the back of the cab with the back seats folded down. The unibody of the Maverick makes this possible. I know it would take some engineering to move the audio equipment from the back of the rear seats but that’s what engineers are paid the “big bucks” for.
What does everybody think?
If you want to pay upwards of 55 or 60k, great. Might as well get a midsized or fullsize truck.
