I have been looking for a Maverick and ran across one that is within an hour of me. It is an XLT Hybrid FWD in Navy Pier with 47,500 mi. at a dealer for $23,499. Looking at the carfax it was a one owner and it had the long block replaced under the Ford one-time replacement warranty for those engines at 38,000 mi. Only extra option is the power moon roof.

Any thoughts on this? Would be a second vehicle to our 2018 Lincoln MKX with 2.7T AWD currently with 51,000 mi.

I am in the same boat as you are and currently looking for a Maverick. For me used ones are currently overpriced. I would rather spend a little bit more and get a new unit with a 3-year warranty. Especially right now you can find some decent deals with the Ford employee discounts. Keep looking outside your city / state as well. Might be well worth to go on a road trip. Good luck with your search.

No way I’d pay that. MSRP on a new 2025 FWD Hybrid XLT is $31,090 (minus the moon roof). Except now that the Ford employee pricing is temporarily available to everyone, the new one costs less than $31,090.

Or you could pick up a new 2025 XL Hybrid for $28,590, minus the employee discount.

The price seems a little high. XLT isn't a good value unless it has more options.

I think you should be able to find an XLT with the luxury package for around their asking price. Or pay a little more for a Lariat.

For comparison, my 22 Lariat with the luxury package should retail for 24.5-29.8k (allegedly, according to JD Power / NADA guide).

Luxury package? Bed liner?
23k for 3 year old with that many miles is alright, but would need some add ons. Id try to grab new tires.

Ya - overpriced because the buyer bought it overpriced, and dealer did.
Around here there are Mav's showing up all over the place.

The engine replace is nice, means that potential is taken care of.
But it still would be under that recall anyway, you just wouldn't be out the waste of time.

But those CV axles need to be confirmed. That would be in Ford's system if dealership did it, under warranty or not.

And then the markup the buyer originally got needs to be removed.
Considering how close that is to a new 24MY.

Dealer throwing in some extra warranty period? Which might not be useful since not that close.
More price drop perhaps.

IMO terrible deal. Keep in mind the 2025 XL has nearly the same equipment as the 2022 XLT did minus the nicer rims.

Also, the 2022-mid 2023 hybrids had teething issues

Seems over-priced with that many miles on it, imo. I kinda have no clue what I'm talking about here, but I dont think that a '22 XLT Hybrid Maverick is worth more than $20k if it has almost 50k miles on it.

I would go to Kelley Blue Book, enter the VIN, year, mileage, repaired and see what the numbers are. Or any of a half dozen other valuation sites.

Price out a new 2025 XL trim with employee pricing. Remind yourself the warranty that comes with a new vehicle. Also the resale value of a 3 year newer vehicle down the road.

Best of luck on your decision and your vehicle.

I lost my 2022 xl hybrid in December and got $22,600 from insurance. Had 41k miles on it, got the engine warranty for possible engine failure but didn't have to change mine. (Main reason i wish i still had it) No problems with axles. Only extras were moon roof and hitch.

I have a fully loaded XLT with 30,000 miles and figured it would sell for $25,000

Engine was replaced at only 38,000 miles? That would give me pause. Is it going to fail again at 38,000 miles? I'd pass .
