Maverick Rearview Camera Recall Fix is Out!

Called my dealer to schedule. They said not to have the recall done unless I was having a problem because if I had it done now and the problem showed up later, I could not have it fixed under the recall. Sounds wrong.

Send your dealer an email requesting an appointment for the camera recall campaign. The return email is just as valid as a paper letter.

Ron: actually have your attorney send your dealer a letter announcing that the lawsuit is pending because they are not complying with the national highway transportation safety administration official recall. Furthermore they are refusing the fact that this needs to be a recall you know those four dealers that were anointed by God himself to make these judgments. For crying out loud just get another dealer. And call Ford corporate and complain.

I think dealer may just be busy, or for whatever reason is reluctant to do the recall. Sounds to me like he is still leaving it up to you. No need to go ballistic. I would just follow Glen Bakers advice (from above post). He is the guy with the right answers almost all the time. Send the email REQUESTING (don't ask) for the recall update. Be assertive and wait for his reply back. Don't do my old NCO intimidation bit, which would be to go there and get within half inch of their face (I am making progress though as I no longer demand on the push-ups). Good luck!

Ethical attorneys generally will not send a letter for something like that, without being put on retainer.

The fix might be out, but don’t we have to wait till we get noticed from FORD the parts are available?

I'm seeing anywhere from 30 minutes to a couple hours. I can say in a 8 hours day we are getting at least 12 done.

Some say yes. Some say no.
The only way to really know if it is better or worse.
Take a picture with your phone of the settings example the brightness.
Take a picture of the image before the update.
After the update see if any of the settings have been changed, like the brightness. Try taking another picture of the image.
Compare the two.

I have not notice a quality change but a processing change. It works instead of freezing.

I wasn’t gonna get this done until a whole bunch of other ones were needing to be done but my dealer called me and the Mobile Service fella came by and rebooted the software 45 minutes no issues. Now just waiting for the battery recall parts to be available.

Does it fix the quality of the camera?

It's a lot more responsive, especially if I just turned the engine on and engaged reverse while the Ford logo is still booting the infotainment system. Reverse camera now overrides the boot sequence near-instantly and no more lag when Android Auto is up. Time will tell how permanent of a fix it is as I get more use cases while driving.

In comparing video of before and after not seeing any quality difference of image in any spots.
I never had a screen freeze - just glitches sometimes.
Not noticed that yet, on the 4 backups I've done - so need time to compare.

What I have noticed is how many times my radio was left on the screen showing the station presets, and that used to be what returned on next start up.

I've had maybe 3 starts after I've shutdown as normal for that screen - and that's not the one that comes up - it's the general Audio screen merely showing that FM is being used.

Ya, one whole extra screen press on FM to show the preset screen. But, it wasn't needed prior - so a tad annoying.

Can anyone confirm that they also noticed the tire pressure monitoring system read out screen disappeared? On my XL it used to read out pressures at each tire and I swear I can’t find that screen anymore it just like disappeared?

Using menu and okay buttons on the right side of the steering wheel.

Go to your settings.

Tab up or down to information push okay

Tab up or down the tire pressure push okay.

I believe that is on the screen behind your steering wheel… not the dashboard screen just go to the picture of the Maverick press the right button then you can toggle to tire pressure. If this is what you’re talking about not sure if you mean, you could always see it on your center stack screen??
