It’s a normally aspirated four banger.
If it sounds sporty it’s fake.
Be glad because my 24’ Ecoboost has no sound.
I may have to drop $700 on exhaust upgrades.

BMW and Ford got caught using speakers for a sporty engine sound.
This was fifteen or so years ago.
Ford got caught with the Mustang four bangers. LoL

Oh I don’t know, I’d doubt that.

Yes. Electric motors are essentially silent. EVs and hybrid vehicles running in electric mode are required to emit some kind of sound to make pedestrians (especially blind pedestrians) aware that a vehicle is in motion nearby.

I know electric vehicles first came out they didn’t have sound, but now they have to have sound when the engines are on so that blind people can know when a hybrid or electric vehicle is coming.

Now I’m wondering if we can change the sound to like Knight Rider for example

Got caught? What does that mean?

Many ICE vehicles today have a "sporty" artifical engine sound played over the speakers to make them sound more appealing. The Maverick Tremor is one of them.

If I owned a sports car, Beemer or the Mustang and I found out the cool engine sound was fake I’d be pissed as hell.
I’d feel cheated.
Maybe it’s because I grew up with real muscle cars I don’t know.

Buddy says, “Oh yeah my car sounds powerful !”
And me sitting there listening to to what I know is a speaker imitating a powerful engine sound.

I’d think my buddy is an Idiot.

And this may be the reason I have no friends don’t cha know !

I had the original C-Max hybrid, it was totally silent when running electric. I always thought that was good except if you are trying to pass a bicycle or back up out of a parking space. No one can hear you so I had a few close calls.

In sport mode, our 25 hybrid has artificial RPM/shifting noise and it has a chime when in reverse. Bit rediculous, really, but it is what it is. Sport mode revving makes me chuckle.

I will forever miss the silly little pedestrian horn that my first gen Chevy Volt had as its pedestrian alert system. A quite and less aggressive horn was so useful without feeling overbearing.

I usually drive my Maverick Hybrid with music on so I rarely notice it but I'm pretty sure it has a white noise type of sound for low speed driving. There is also that goofy reverse sound but thats more obvious.

Actually, sound is produced through an external speaker whenever a Maverick Hybrid is in any driving mode: R-D-L

Maybe an "ooga ooga" or the claxon sound they used on Stargate when the portal opened
Or when in drive the reverse beep-beep-beep could be peeb-peeb-peeb.... So the blind could know if you were coming or going but then you would have to have a software update to detect where the blind guy was... Ford could work on that once they figure out the 12v charge/discharge.
