I believe the noise you are hearing is the traction motor. I hear it when accelerating from a stop light. Very faint, but definitely like an ambulance. You will get used to it :)
I happens when I'm braking and coming to a stop, like there is an ambulance in the distance with it's sirens on. It's very faint.

Yep - something else then probably.
Dealership could confirm tranny is properly full, just in case.

I will add - the sound of the traction motor being used to to generate charging to the battery while braking is for sure louder than when coasting.
But not that loud - I still think something not right going on.

When I say it's faint, I mean very faint. Maybe the average person would not hear it? I'm 67 years old and didn't listen to much loud music when I was younger, so my hearing is very good. My wife's hearing is very bad, but she was into going out to loud bars before we met lol :)

I notice the faint siren sound as well when I don't have the radio on. My sister has a new Toyota RAV4 hybrid that makes the exact same sound, I commented when riding with her "There's the hybrid siren".

You can hear it in this video posted earlier in the thread when he has the pedestrian speaker disabled, occurs faintly (turn up your speakers) when he's slowing at about 4:24 and more loudly around 4:40 when accelerating, just after the engine starts. I think it's the sound of the drive or generator motor as its RPM decreases, the pitch begins high then lowers and fades out.

Mine isnt as high pitched but definitely close to that of where it makes sound. mine is more like a constant "errrrrrrr" when you hear it.

it starts the second I switch into drive and seems to fade out at 25 mph

That's the pedestrian warning noise, if you watch the beginning of the video, before he disables the speaker, you'll hear it as soon as he puts it in drive.

That sounds similar, but I never noticed mine when I accerlate?, just braking. Anyway, I think you hit the jackpot :)
