To those who own a 3+ year old hybrid, how much did you pay for the brake fluid flush?

Haven't needed it yet, but I would think that any competent brake shop would be a less expensive (and possibly better) choice than a ford dealership.
Hybrids are getting common these days, but since Mavericks don’t have a conventional vacuum boosted brake system, I’d just as soon the dealer does mine.

Even at 3 years, you may not need your brake fluid flushed..
Have it tested for moisture content first by a competent shop. That will actually heat it to see how much moisture is contains.
Cheaper conductivity tests aren't always reliable.

The manual specifically says not to stretch the flush interval. I will change mine on time. Do as you please with yours.

Dunno about Ford/Mav costs for brake fluid flush/renew. But a reference point that may/may not be relevant- my daughter in CA (LA area) just had oil/filter change and brake fluid flush/renew on her 2019 (6 model years old) Honda Fit with ~70k miles on it at a Honda dealership - $341.45.

If you 'assume' around $80 for a dealership oil/filter change (yes outrageous but it is what it is), then the brake fluid stuff was 'around' $260.

Sorry but no one touches my Fords but my Ford Dealer. Around here I pay no more for dealership services.
On my 2004 Escape I checked two well known trusted shops.
Two of the three motor mounts installed $289
At my Ford dealer with Ford parts $229
Coil pack at Ford was installed $120
At those other two shops $179 and $195

If you are physically able, and interested, try doing it yourself. If you have an air compressor, you can get a vacuum style bleeder for under $100, which makes the job very quick & easy. I do all my vehicles every 2 years.

The Prius has an electric braking system, too. Not vacuum. It has been around since 1997, and sold in the US for a quarter century. Reputable brake shops are very familiar with them.

Thanks for that. I knew our hybrid system is very similar to the Prius, but I had no idea if that extended to the brakes.

For what it’s worth, my older Ford sedan recently got a complete brake job. Replace rear wheel cylinders and bleed (not flush) was $145.

I have never changed the brake fluid on a 4 wheeled vehicle (I'm old AF). It gets changes when I get new pads. Bikes yes, cars no. I suppose on a hybrid the brakes might last longer and maybe fluid would warrant a replacement eventually.

I recognize that Ford says to do this, as does every other manufacturer. My personal theory is US DOT was influenced by the fluid manufacturers.

I decided to call my dealer. The price quoted for a brake flush is $186. He said it is the same price for hybrids and regular engines. More than I expected, but it could have been worse.

Asked my dealer how much and service manager came out of office when service rep conferred with manager and asked how often I opened the cap. I said never, he said maybe in couple more years. So I guess I'll just continue to look at fill level through the plastic.
