They say the Hybrid will suck because it has the dreaded belt driven CVT and that only companies will buy fleet becasue they dont care how bad the drive is for their employees only to save gas.

All these reviewers never say a gear driven eCVT most of the time. They might as well say the ecoboost is mated to a 2 speed automatic so they can be wrong on both drive trains.

OMG the horror! Every reviewer who says anything negative about the Maverick and/or praises Santa Cruz is dumb/biased/uninformed/on the take (except for in the instances where they praise Maverick, in which case that limited portion of their content is acceptable)!

For not having the cars very long, they made very good assessments on the vehicles.

The consistant inaccurate eCVT data amongst the review community should be called out.

I don't think Professional (not these guys) reviewers should be putting out false information about a major drive train detail. An unreliable belt driven CVT alone would drive away some people, myself included if I didn't know better. People make decisions based off these reviews.

They said other negative things about the maverick, but since they weren't based on inaccurate information, I don't care.

See how that works.

You do realise that these reviewers are dumb, uninformed and biased so yes they do deserve the pushback.

Hopefully a valid review between the two vehicles that shows the strengths and weaknesses will happen but this sure was not one of them.

There are for sure two types of reviewers out there.....the entertainment guys, and the tech guys. They both make valid points in different ways, but they are still just opinions at the end of the day, and really shouldn't be taken for any more than that.

These guys are fun to watch, and tho they are factually a bit on the vague side, I thought their overall assessment of the two vehicles was spot on.

Both the entertainment guys and tech guys get it wrong constantly. That is a problem for people trying to figure out what to buy.

I only learned that it's not the same CVT by visiting this forum.

I am sure there are many that bypassed the hybrid based on this false assumption.

I'm fine with reviewers preferring the Santa Cruz over the Maverick--if they are actually properly reviewing both vehicles.

But confusing a belt-CVT with an eCVT isn't properly reviewing the Maverick. Fail.

Completely agree, don't take my post as giving them a pass. I've actually posted (complained) on this exact subject previously. Thus my relegating these reviews as entertainment & opinions, and NOT something I would solely make my purchase decision on, especially from a technical perspective, as many of them are full of errors.

You people are freaking nuts! I'd hate to hear anyone have even the slightest criticism of your children if you get this animated about an effing half a truck that you haven't even gotten yet (for most people).

They more or less preferred the Maverick anyway so I don't understand where you get the delusions about unfair criticism.

You want to know the real rub?

People who want a truck but there's too many downsides: Maverick purchase

People who looked at the Tuscon and thought the size was great but cargo could be better: Santa Cruz purchase
