Yea that was my concern also with getting caught in the tailgate when closing. But it is an option if you need that tie down point and perhaps the other hole would be better.
I just took my tie down off and never replaced it when I got the tailgate asisst.
Mine developed the same issue. Something inside got stuck or collapsed on the top.
I used to just tap the horn anywhere and it would honk easily. Then one day when I tapped the horn for a cell phone user stopped at a green light, nothing happened.
The entire top of the airbag module...

I just looked and it appears sold out. But it has sold out in past and come back. Several on here have bought it.
The Amazon link in the thread below takes you to the hard tri fold, I got the soft rollup. Keep checking, but there are other branded ones mentioned in the discussion...
I bought the Mav and my wife a Ford in the last year so had lots of points to use.

I just got the side cubby for my XL.
Went to Lowes trying to find two fasteners that were at least black and not silver.
They actually had auto drawers in their special fastener section.

Great combo
I told my salesperson a couple times and texted to make sure it wasn't installed. I was buying in another state, so wasn't sure if they did this automatically or not.
This is how he let the prep people down the line know. Can't touch the plate without seeing that.

I just hold the gate for the first inch or two of opening and the bracket stays mostly in place.
The bottom can...

My 23 has that inside backseat driver side door. Seen it a couple days after delivery. Was able to push headliner just barely under the seal, but not the b pillar cover. Haven't thought of it much as I don't see it.
I don't want dealer to mess things up worse or put dirty prints everywhere...
I bought my mat and tailgate liner with the Ford points.
I originally had the spray in option but removed it when it became a constraint.
I always planned on getting a mat to protect stuff and prevent things sliding. Then I happened to see the standalone tailgate liner and decided that's all...
