Do you get comments on the street about your Maverick?

No one ever asked or talked about my Maverick. However…

Barn find, restored Corvair. Got pulled over by a deputy just few years ago. Seeing those flashing lights shook me. Said I did nothing wrong, just wanted to visit, talk of my 1966 Chevrolet Corsa Corvair.

Had a Chevy Colorado, Z71, black, chrome steps, nice tires/wheels, killer looks. Got ask, comments on lt.

In a major metro area, there are so many XL Mavericks with steelies as Fleet vehicles, they are almost as prevalent as a Rivian.

But in my 2020 F250 with BAP, my wife is amazed at the number of gawkers and comments.

Thats exactly why I put some nice aftermarket wheels on my XL. Honestly people think it’s a high-trim truck.

Back in early 2023 I had a couple of guys ask me about my Maverick. I would go weeks without seeing another one. Now they are way more common and I feel less exclusive....lol.

I get more looks now. I can tell people are looking at like and thinking, "that's one of those Maverick things." Especially at the gas station. Lots of looks.

Interesting topic... I have been approached about my Maverick many times. The most memorable instance was a young couple in an upscale and new Ram pickup truck. They pulled up as I was loading up my soccer coaching gear and asked what I thought about it. The wife or girlfriend said the Ram was too big and she wanted something smaller for herself. They were looking at options to replace her vehicle. I stayed, answered all of their questions, and offered to let them drive it (although they didn't take me up on the offer). I don't know if they decided to buy one. Yet, I got the feeling they would consider it.

I do have two friends who borrowed the first Maverick I owned - an early 2022 XL Hybrid - and ended up buying their own Mavericks.

I would say someone asks about my Maverick about one in four times I fill it up at a gasoline station. I also exchange a thumbs-up with other Maverick owners about one in five times.

The only issue I am having is finding someone interested in buying it.

Hey! I recognize your moniker name from another car site! Did you also make the leap from a Prius to the Maverick? Did I meet you at one of the Prius car meets? Or was it at HybridPIt?

I don't think I was a member of a Prius group. You might have seen me around if you are also involved in BMWs, Mercedes-Benz, Porsches, Ford Model As, Land Rovers, or several British sports car marques. I have been active off-n-on in various marque clubs and interest groups for over 35 years. The Model A Ford interest is relatively new (about eight years).

I always like the fact that versus 7-Eleven gun stores aren't robbed very often when they're open. I wonder why?

The occasional "how do you like your Maverick?" at a gas station or parking lot. A couple neighbors took a look/sat in it. But Mavs are getting quite popular around here.

When we lived in Vegas. We live next door to a metro cop. He told me never ever to talk to a cop.

A couple of decades ago (yeah, I'll go with "a couple") in law school, a constitutional law professor commented to us to the effect of, "not only have I never heard of a guilty person helping himself by talking to the police, I've never heard of an innocent one helping himself, either."

I suspect that if for some reason police picked me up and wanted to interrogate me, I'd play along for a while simply for the amusement factor--but remaining alert as to when to say "Lawyer. Lawyer! LAWYER!". (but then again, I'd like to sit on a jury just to see the world from another side. But there's always one side or the other that will kick a lawyer off, to the point that years ago, when I called the jury commissioner after a summons to get an extension for being a critical employee, she simply struck me from the list! [but then, my brother is also an attorney, and did end up on a jury--but it was a pissing contest between law firms, which both spent more than the amount in dispute!])
