IS the Lariat worth the extra money?

I have a 2022 Lariat and really love it!

Biggest plusses I see are the Adaptive Cruise Control for those time you are heading out on the expressways. Also am a big fan of the rear window that you can open from the front seat. When combined with my sunroof slightly opened there is great cabin air flow - so much so that in the summer there are times I do not need the AC turned on.

Really, the Lariat seems to be basically what the XLT would offer in a Ranger or F-150.

Sold Fords for 42 years. When customers couldn’t decide between getting an extra option or trim, I would tell: if you get that and decide later that you really didn’t need it, you made $1000 or whatever the cost was. If they didn’t get it and wish they had , they made a $30,000 or cost of cat mistake.

It has been this way for a million years. Same thing with Mustang and many other vehicles. power passenger seat seldom cared about by buyers and it costs a bundle to produce. An additional cost option on many cars that I know of. I am 78yo. My father ordered new high end cars often, so I recall this from many years past. Could this still be a 'free standing option' on any Maverick ? I checked just now the order guide and do not see it as an option.

To me yes, some I’ve yet to discover. Acoustics windshields more insulation Michelin tires, auto headlamps, wipers, heated mirrors, seats, steering wheel, shocks, it has every option my Platinum F150 had except massage seats and rear heated seats, 360 plot, key pad, amazing value first edition.

I still have the parts from my first computer in the late 70s, involving wire wrap tools and sockets, toggle switches, and LED displays . . .

I used to sell used cars on a buy here pay here lot.
It’s called, ‘Bafflle them with bull shit’
Worked every time. People are so full of self importance. It feels like a physical injury or attack if they think for one second someone will find out they don’t know everything already.
To a good salesman this is a tool of the trade.

look at it this way.. if you don't get a lariat, will you spend the rest of your time of ownership wishing you did?

i never hear of lariat owners wishing that they had gotten a "lower" trim level instead.

This is me. 2024 XLT hybrid and at 9500 miles I’m debating a 2025 Lariat. I love my XLT but my new Bronco showed me that I missed the bells and whistles (I usually buy higher trim vehicles). Dont get excited about the stereo though. i can’t speak for the Maverick but the B&O system in my Bronco is pure ass.

I seem to be the only one that loathes ACC. I disabled that crap in my Bronco the minute I got it home.

Quality-of-life-wise, the Lariat was the best choice for me. My first Maverick was an entry-level XLT 2.0—fun, cheap, and cheerful. It made for a great runabout, but after years of driving cars with keyless entry, I just couldn’t get used to fumbling around for a key, especially when my hands were full. Also, the infotainment system was terrible.

I started thinking about switching to a hybrid and looked at an XLT with Lux and BAP. It was definitely a step up, but it still used a key. That was kind of a dealbreaker. My dealer started checking around their network (I even briefly considered ordering a ’25) and found a Lariat Tremor with a moonroof. As soon as I saw it, I knew I had to have it—even though I realized it was probably way too much for a Maverick.

Thankfully, they gave me a great offer on my XLT trade, which made the decision a little easier. The Lariat is such a step up, it almost feels like a completely different vehicle. I enjoy driving it, and it’s just a lot easier to live with day to day.

I’ve found after decades of purchasing new vehicles that if you can afford it get the top of the line packages especially if you’re one that keeps vehicles for extended periods since you‘ll be living with it for a long time that‘s just my opinion from my experience and this is more attractive to used car buyers at the end of the day which means a better ROI…
