The Lariat with with Acoustic windshield definitely reduces interior noise at least on the 22-24 model years -

Im 78 yo. I don't even know what a sync is. That screen in the center of my dash is usually turned to black. I have no use for adaptive cruise control as I NEVER follow any
other vehicle I lead !
It sounds like you have not embraced today's technology. I am 66 years old and I love today's technology. Admittedly, I am a computer geek and have been building computers since the 90's.

As I like to say, different strokes for different folks.

Sold Fords for 42 years. When customers couldn’t decide between getting an extra option or trim, I would tell: if you get that and decide later that you really didn’t need it, you made $1000 or whatever the cost was. If they didn’t get it and wish they had , they made a $30,000 or cost of cat mistake.
The only new vehicle I ordered from the factory was a '97 S-10, extended cab, 2X4, 5 speed, ZQ8 lowered suspension package, and a step side bed. It was essentially the Extreme package a couple years before Chevy came out w/ the Extreme. Anyway, my point is that when I ordered the thing I convinced myself that I didn't need the power windows, power door locks, power mirrors package; probably only $250 or less back then, and seriously regretted the decision every one of the 147,000 miles I put on it.

thankfully my youngest son is a coder, otherwise I'd have no help with my compute machine issues. LOL. I do spend my entire days on a desktop compute machine. For driving I pride myself, as always on paying attention to the road. In high school I took driver's ed just because it was available. My teacher said only one thing to me ever....you are alert. I must try harder now at my age. Headlights on always and look three times both ways at stop signs.
I have a smart phone and rarely use it. Don't need a phone when I'm out hiking, walking.
Flip phone does the job nicely.
Me, formerly years ago, used car tech at new car stealerships. Always hated electrical stuff, just had to deal with it many times, also had smog license, faked a lot of that work.

I hear ya. My last RV had Sink 3, I believe... a double sink in the kitchen and another sink in the bathroom. For me the adaptive cruise is pretty good; as soon as I see the speed drop down 1 mph I'm moving left and going on by. Point being that I feel it keeps me more focused and less complacent. That and the lane keeping really make distance driving more enjoyable.
LOL.. Yes, forgot to state that. Speeding keeps me awake, being in front keeps me awake, less likely to fade off. Now if the cops would just believe this. I have once driven that blue car top speed, goes 142 tops. Don't tell the cops though.

What I actually need is nice but I'm fortunate enough to, finally, be in a place in my life where I can afford to get what I want. What I need is actually not much more than an old VW bug but what I want is a comfortable and quiet vehicle with lots of bells n whistles. After a lifetime of being able to scrabble to barely get what I actually need I'got a different outlook; I've worked for it, I've earned it, and, as they say, ya can't take it with ya!
Well said! I just retired and have been deliberating over and over on a 25 Maverick purchase. I agree with your philosophy of having a new outlook and also tired of skimping for so many years to get here. I think your post has helped me make up my decision.

im in same situation, I dont take money for granted, but my car is 13 years old, but its still kicking, but I feel like I deserve a new vehicle. but I dont want to go in debt over it either, like why replace if still works? I see a lot of perks, car to truck, trackbed, hauling, better mpg, 40more month insurance, recouped back in fuel savings.

but do I need it? nah I can live without it.

I feel guilty getting rid of my current car too. it's been so good to me. and its manual, I enjoy that, or I can keep it for a weekend car, but that seems wasteful. my insurance stays the same with both cars on policy vs just maverick oddly

yes insurance is currently outrageous. I had three vehicles and sold one due to high insurance and now a second one is 'off the road' but I currently keep it. If you can afford it, keep the old car and maybe remove it's collision insurance as that portion is the biggest expense...even raising liability costs little but collision is expensive. My Scion FRS I took off the road for one year while I kept two Mavericks. Finally sold one Maverick and put the FRS back on the road....so incredibly glad I kept the FRS as it was really fun to go back to it and yes it's a stick. I have owned about 65 cars in my lifetime, only the FRS has ever fit like a glove. So keep your old car if you have room for it. As for a Maverick, mine both 2022 models were cheap but they are no longer cheap. There are now tons of them used. I'd suggest finding a used one and also keeping the old car. Win, win.

It will depend on whether the extra features are worth it to you. Auto cruise and heated wheel were must-haves for me so that put me into the Lariat.

I love my scion its actually great.

quotes im getting are 89 month for 2025 lariat by itself. and 89 for 25 lariat + scion together, no joke. scion by itself is 40. so 49 more dollars, to add lariat. my scion premium is 240 / 6 months. its only carrying uninsured/underinsured/towing though. I figure since it might break down one day @ 220k

I bought two mavericks being excited when they came out. Stupid move that was. One is a fwd hybrid and the other was a awd Ecoboost, both XLT models ( what most people purchase). I wanted to try both, each with totally different options. Since they were 2022 models, much cheaper new than now. hybrid XLT was 24,450 and EcoBoost awd XLT was 29,080...each with several a la carte options. Actually the fwd hybrid rides better at freeway speeds despite having a less sophisticated rear suspension, go figure. They each make a nice appliance.
Finally decided I really don't need a truck of any kind and missed my 'sports car', the FRS incredibly. And I'm 78yo and still love flying around corners and of course a stick. So back to FRS until I die or can afford a new one or a used Cayman. The FRS was under 26 grand new, what a deal ! New ones are about 3 grand more now, still a deal. 80% of driving a Porsche some say...(though lacking the extra power).

Oh, my insurance for FRS about 1450 a year with 1000 dollar deductible for collision. Not great. And I just changed ins companies, pissed I was at USAA despite their being top tier. Hard finding another company able to compete with USAA prices, yet tired of their incompetence and sometimes just lies. I've gone back to a bricks and mortars company where I get the same exact person every time to speak with, not the case with USAA.

Really, the Lariat seems to be basically what the XLT would offer in a Ranger or F-150.
this is completely true and is done on both of the bigger trucks by ordering XLT with technology + advanced towing package.

that gets you everything except vinyl seats and I'd prefer the cloth!

And on the MY25'S. I have a 25 Lariat and just drove an XL for close to 3 days. Noticeable difference in cabin noise.

Everyone is different on this. For me, I just wanted a basic truck and am pleased with the XL. It rides and handles very good and gets good gas mileage. If you look at the price differences in the different models, you will see why some say an XL is a better buy. Depending on options, there can easily be $10,000 or more in price between an XL and a Lariat. It all depends on if the options are worth that much to you.
