I have two hybrid orders in different dealerships. One is for a Lariat and one for an XLT. My XLT is likely to be scheduled and produced first, but I’m really liking the interior look of the Lariat better. My internal debate now is: is the Lariat worth the $3K extra? Do any of you have insight on why you chose Lariat over XLT or Lariat over XLT?

Also, if I upgrade the trim of my XLT, has it been anyone’s experience that doing this will delay the build? I have no constraints on my build as it stands, outside the hybrid engine of course.

I don't like leather interiors, so the XLT was the easy choice. Kinda wished adaptive cruise was an option on the XLT, but I don't have that now on my current vehicle either.

I went with a Lariat because there were some options I wanted that were only available with the Lariat + Lux. It all boils down to what you want (or need). This is the first vehicle where I wanted to really go all out and get what I wanted, not just what I needed. So, Lariat Lux it was...

I much prefer the aesthetics of the XLT personally but for my wife and myself we've wanted dual zone climate for a while, I know this sounds crazy but I am always burning up and she's always freezing even if it is 90 degrees out. I'd like push to start/intelligent entry and I definitely prefer the pleather over cloth just because I feel like cloth tends to get a smell of its own more so than pleather/leather. It would definitely help to scotch guard the seats every now and then I'm sure.

Otherwise the power rear window is a minor plus as I'd rather have it than not, ambient lighting is something I was going to install regardless, and strictly from a vain perspective I prefer the signature lighting and body color handles/mirrors so the Lariat checked enough boxes. I had gone to the dealer expecting to leave with the XLT and maybe the lux pack but since the liner is now drop in and I can aftermarket it easily it wasn't as appealing.

I will say my number one complaint though is that the Lariat doesn't have the bed outlet which I really wanted and will happily pay for but I don't want to get the Lariat lux to get that. The worst thing about the Lariat is that it makes you really want the lux package which includes all the stuff you really want.

That's certainly an individual choice. I changed from a Lariat to an XLT primarily due to my dislike of the Lariat's interior. You indicated that you like the interior of the Lariat. That should be a factor.

At the base level I don't think the Lariat is that big of an upgrade over the XLT unless you really want the interior or push-button/intelligent access. Most of the trim's "killer features" are in the Luxury Pack which, with the hybrid, still comes out quite decently affordable at $31k.

I ordered the Hybrid Lariat + Lux because I will keep it for a long time until a electric Maverick or similar comes to market with a close to 500 mile range.

Hard to answer since we all want different options and their priority may not be the same. I think the XLT is better value and personally prefer cloth seats but I also like the looks of the Lariat seats. Don't really care about a lot of options on Lariat vs the XLT but others may disagree. My excuse for a Lariat might be in the resale value and I like a touch of bling on my wheels like the Lariat.

I was in the same boat as you. Heck, I even started on an XL trim and now a fully loaded Lariat. If you see some of my posts regarding the trims, you'll see it that it all depends on how you approach each one of them.

There is always justifications on why choosing one trim over the others. It's a constant tug of war between practicality and YOLO. Also, if it's a flop then a 20k truck isn't so bad. But then if it's a big hit, you gonna want the Lariat because of FOMO.

Also put in consideration how hard it is to buy a car without "market price adjustment" so being on the ground level on this is amazing!

People are going to say the Maverick isn't worth it more than the XL since the materials doesn't change to match the price. I was one of those people. Lol! But again, if this truck truly is the one you've been waiting for and you can afford it, then I say go for the top trim!

An XLT has a feature set similar to my mid-range 2012 Mazda. If I'm plunking down all this money, I want my vehicle to feel new, not 10 years old. So all the luxury features and creature comforts of the lariat lux won me over. Yeah it's a few thousand more, but I'll be spending many, many hours in it and having all the latest tech will encourage me to keep it longer.

I didn’t think the difference between XLT and Lariat was enough. Most of what I wanted is in the Lux package. My wife convinced me to go for it get exactly what I wanted, not what I needed. So Lariat Lux for me.

You would think the upgrade to Lariat would also include heated seats - nope have to jump to LUX. Part of the reason and with all the extra Lux features we left the $32k AWD XLT to get to a soothing $36K Lariat /Lux -)

There's no right or wrong, it's all personal choice & budget.

Very easy to make a list of the trim differences, options, and the cost. Then you just need to evaluate which ones are worth the upcharge to you, to determine which model/options hit your sweet spot.

All the Mav trims are solid values, IMO.

XLT luxury was the sweet spot for me because I wanted heated everything, the spray in bed liner, and the price was good.

I suggest find what works for your wants and your budget.

The XLT trim level is the sweet spot for the Maverick. It's a good compromise for an inexpensive truck.
Having said that, I went with a Lariat.
I'm 70 and decided to, for the first time, buy a vehicle with all the bells and whistles.
Usually, I prefer a cloth interior, but I like the lariat's leather interior/colors more than the XLT interior.
