When my Maverick was hit from behind 3 weeks ago by a Motorcycle, my initial emotion was anger because I thought it was a young teenager hotdogging (we're having issues at near epidemic proportions with kids operating motorcycles recklessly and the police not doing enough about it). When I got out and saw it was a poor elderly man with an old junky motorcycle my demeanor changed instantly and I was only concerned about the old guy's condition... But yeah, folks drive like fools nowadays and it majes me angry too. Just returned from 3 days at a funeral in Baltimore MD area and was angered more than once at the unnecessarily aggressive driving... Saw allot of car accidents in 3 days.

OP seems like he handled it well .. losing your cool after an accident only exacerbates an already bad situation.. Glad OP was not injured..

BTW, that looks to be a dream Maverick... Green Lariat w/ BAP, no? Bummer.

I think someone posted topic here about color choices.... something along the lines of a green colored vehicle subconsciously causing drivers to keep going making it a color that's accident prone. Could be wrong but I'm sure I read it somewhere.

Maybe it's an old wives tale. But many times in my 75 years with 60 driving.. I've heard buy a green car and it will be hit.

It doesn't seem like yellow is much of a deterrent either.

In late August, I was rear-ended while sitting at a stoplight. I wasn't hurt, but the crumple zones did their jobs and sacrificed themselves. I got notified that it was totaled last week. 8900 miles. Once the insurance wrangling is done, it's off to Dovi Motors in Cortland, NY to order a '25. I only wish that Cyber Orange was still available!

I NOW always, do the 5 second rule... I make sure I am slow to react when it goes... "Green"

I'm always watching the light cycle if I'm first in line, just in case whose next in the cycle was changed.
And during that time observing other lights go red - confirming the cars are slowing where they should in case I'm next.
I've observed most people are on phones only taking quick glances at light to see if green yet - nothing about other traffic movement.
What probably saves many is they are delayed on going because of that distraction. But most see that green finally and punch it, never a glance around.
We've probably all seen that quick glance where the left turner saw the green light for the straight-ahead lane and started moving too despite their red light.

Sorry that happened so soon or at all. It seems like Mavs are magnets to get hit, but it is probably just social media effect of finding out about them all. I would be curious to know if Mavs do suffer more side impacts due to lack of side marker lights, but that wouldn't have helped you if she ran the red light.

I agree, but i'm always careful after i get a green light. This lady ran a light that had been red for several seconds.

Just be blessed that nobody was hurt or injured. You can always get another vehicle. It's totaled. Vehicles are designed to absorb energy all over the body. I had a 90 Ranger that suffered a similar crash and portions of the truck that were not impacted were bent or warped. Order now before tariffs are turned back on.

Oh, man. That was my biggest fear when I got my ‘22. You have a long wait, that happens, and then you’re back at square one trying to find another MAV. Hopefully you won’t get jerked around by that woman’s insurance company. But be prepared.
