Painful to look at those photos. So sorry this happened, but yep, I see many people just blowing through red lights as if the laws don't apply to them. Can no longer rely on a red light stopping anyone which is why I take a moment to look before proceeding. I'm sure it was hard to post the damage to your truck, but you can bet many here will be more cautious than usual when that light turns green. Best of luck replacing your Maverick.
I’ve been seeing another thing, we stop at red light, then 10 seconds later, guy beside me just blows off through it

yeah they give zero shit

Was the chevy drive just really jealous?
It wasn't the driver.

It was a tragic case of "young trucklets in love", with no sense of where and when it's appropriate to snuggle!
🤪o_O

Maybe the lady was on her way to pick up her glasses there to help with her vision...so close.
When my Miata was new, I had a door all but taken off, while parked and getting out, by someone driving someone else to an eye exam!

Now, Miatas are small, but the door opened all the way is a pretty big piece to see!

Uninsured drivers should be hung out to dry just like thieves today.
I was going to give a lawyerly response, but ill start a separate thread for that.

@FreedomPenquin Is it really that bad down there? Why would anyone stay in an environment like that...? I'm just a plain ol middle class Canuck trying to live my life. Even the worst areas of Toronto 45 min from me are no where near that bad.
I can't imagine why so many immigrants are trying to get in. Wonder what their environment was like that wherever they came from.

Well guys, in case you were curious. This is how the 25’s handle a hard hit to the side.

Damn. The beautiful green looking for a new one because that’s obviously a total.

I'm still waiting to hear back on it. Insurance adjuster will be out to look at everything Wednesday. Guess I'll be waiting for the insurance companies to battle over who is at fault (definitely not me).

Glad you're okay and it certainly looks like the truck did its job in that accident.

I would put money on that being totaled out.
Ugh man that sucks, I feel you I recently drove nearly 3 hours to buy a 2025 Maverick hybrid AWD on a lot that Truecar found from the VIN that the dealer phone rep couldn't even find in their system
(probably the only reason it was still on the lot, I gave him the VIN & he found it in the keybox).

If this is a Maverick Hybrid AWD IMO the chance of finding one on a lot right now is zilch,
But for a 2025 Maverick costing $35k I would not think this is insurance-totalled & a good body shop who orders the replacement stampings can get it running like new.

The other side of Ford going out of their way keeping production costs down is a simple legacy reliable drivetrain (especially the hybrid) & parts & subframe steel-stampings commonality with Escape/Bronco Sport/Maverick.

Its a new door, front fender, side rocker panel, & maybe worst-case a new passenger-side floor-pan section. The t-bone I think looks well away from the traction-battery under the rear-passenger door, just some battery-coolant lines under the front passenger I think the evaporative system is under the front driver floorpan.

if it damaged the traction battery too, then maybe it would be totalled.

The one good thing about modern cost-cutting for a "low-cost" platform is this is not a Tesla-type vehicle with ridiculously expensive sensors everywhere & a 1-piece die-cast tub that protects from 100 mph crash, but the whole thing is unfixable totalled with no spare parts to find, when you hit a bump at 30mph.

Yeah, who knows what they will do since all the side curtain airbags blew. Seems those are always a factor.

I'm sure they will pull something. Maybe i'll get lucky :ROFLMAO:
Man if that was a 2025 hybrid AWD you will definitely be ordering & waiting for delivery, hybrid FWD yes but there is nothing staying on lots hybrid AWD they disappear fast you'll be paying over the phone driving across country if one hits lots.

get your full payout to order a new Mav hybrid,
but then you might get really good deal buying this off the insurance company as a cheap, running 2nd Mav for the cost of parts.

Airbags total the vehicle, but for fixing its actually a good place for a tbone there's only battery-cooling tubing under the passenger floorpan.

New front passenger door, front fender & rocker panel & it's running (expensive to replace side curtain airbag unless you DIY, disable or jumper connector, & passenger has 2010-era airbag crash-protection).

Insurance is just gonna sell it to Coparts to pull the parts & scrap the body. Your agent might give you the Coparts rep you can call & see if they'd pay $5000 or less you might the car back as a cheap running 2nd vehicle, might get it for $5000, or better if the Copart rep lowballs the quote to your agent.

People are terrified of airbag-deployed vehicles but now we have 20 airbag vehicles, no I'm sorry for this Mav if you don't replace a curtain airbag you're as safe as a 2010 suv

I doubt that I'll go for another Mav if this one is totaled. I wont pay over MSRP and i can't wait months to get a new one delivered. I'm also unsure if the B pillar was heavily damaged. Didn't think to look at the time.

Or the guy behind me honks, but that's rare. I think people are more cautious now about others running lights.

What are the candidates to replace the Maverick if it's totalled?

I’ve looked at f-150’s but not sure I want to take that hit on mpg as I drive a lot for work.

If you decide not to do another maverick, unsure on F150 (I love them, had many), maybe consider the Honda Ridgeline. The Ranger i really good. Santa Cruz is just Butt Ugly imo.

Hyundai Santa Cruz is just stupid execution IMO going with a Dual-Clutch Tranny in that platform of all things.
Like Hyundai got there late to the party & is desperate to overcompensate for performance deficit perception.
Great on the freeway, but multiple automotive tests on trails the DCT overheated & shut down going slow uphill. There's a reason BWMs use the same Zufenhausen-design planetary-gear transmission as the mustang & camaro, shiftspeeds within miliseconds of their DCTs but much cheaper to buy & maintain.
