Recall: 25S02 12V BATTERY INSPECTION

Update – 04/29/2025: Received a notification that the replacement parts were available. I contacted my local Ford dealer, and they arranged for a mobile service unit to install the new battery at my workplace, super convenient. A new AGM battery was installed, none of my vehicle settings were reset.


I just received an alert from my insurance app about a 12V battery inspection recall for my 2022 Maverick. Unfortunately, there were no additional details or information provided. If anyone has more specifics about this recall, please share them here.

I have mine scheduled for first week of Feb to go in for the recall and to find the parasitic draw that keeps killing my battery.

Too bad that I already replaced Ford's lousy battery a year ago with an Interstate AGM battery. I wonder if Ford will reimbursed my expenses ($170 plus tax)?

I have just received the same notification as you did. I was literally going to start a thread and saw this one. My notice is word for word what you have posted. I was very dissatisfied that there is no remedy yet BUT anticipated for Q2 2025. Here’s to anticipation.

In the mean time I charged my battery with a trickle charger, bypassing the BCM (directly on the posts; I know this is NOT recommended) and then reset the BCM following the procedures in the manual. Ignition on with engine off, flash high beams 5 times and then press brake pedal 3 times within 10 seconds. Saw the battery light flash on the dash confirming BCM reset. Time will tell how much, if any that helps.

Actually, what I meant to say...is Ford going to replace these old batteries with an new AGM battery? Also I am wondering if this recall is for Ecoboost Mavs that have (or had) the EFB?

Ah, I gotcha. I would love to get an AGM battery and have looked around but they are a bit pricey. Also if there is a constant draw and the charging system cant keep up the problem will still be there just take longer to show. And your thought and the EFB aid a good one. I hadn’t even considered that. Either way I would really like this battery issue to be remedied so I don’t have to hear that I need to drive my Maverick more often.

I wish the Ford bot were still here. Maybe they could tell me who I can submit my bill to for my labor and cost of the AGM that I bought aftermarket in order to fix the issue caused by their garbage supplier QC.
