They can't be " old" mavericks since they only came out 3 ago lol. But I typically keep my vehicles 15- 20 years so there's that. No body rust on my 23 yet ( there better not be! ) but undercarriage rust yes. I live in Michigan and the truck sits outside.
There is body rust on yours, you just can't see it yet. Vehicle rust starts on the assembly line.

I have a 24 XLT Hybrid and my spindles are both rusty solid orange.
That's normal for Ford on the undercarriage. Look at a lot of the new f-150s alot of them have rust on the under body parts like the rear axles and whatnot.

My old F-250 sat outdoors for 12 years. Won’t fit in garage. Maverick sat outside for maybe 9 months. Until got warnings of hail. So evaluate fitting it into garage. Reorganized garage, and now Maverick in da garage. Protected!

Truck is 15 months old, and only 4,7xx miles. Hardy driven and garaged, think it will last long time.

Looking at 2nd oil change. Did first at ~900 miles. Just sucked up sample recently, waiting on Blackstone analysis and decision if need do another oil change.

I know the exhaust system rusts fast, and Ford trucks have always had rocker panel issues on the F-150 and the older Ranger was a disaster as far as the fenders especially if you had the wheel well trim. I am speaking from personal experience on both counts. I have seen pictures of the exhaust system completely rusted on the Maverick. I painted my exhaust when I bought it and I also undercoated mine and had the inner fenders and door jams coated, all done by Krown Rust Control.. Good deal there and they do a good job.

Only on my second winter, but the only places with rust is uncoated parts (axles, steering knuckles, etc). It’s only surface rust and is inevitable on bare steel. Immediately after taking it home, all the wheel well liners and felt guards got dropped and a copious amount of Fluid Film was sprayed in every nook and cranny I could find. I plan on reapplications every spring and touch ups in the fall. I also run it through the car wash once the roads are dry after a snow storm, so salt doesn’t sit on it very long.

...ordered in August and January delivery in the snow belt wasn't my desired delivery date...
I had the same situation, ordered in August but I told the dealer I didn't want delivery until at least late winter, preferably early spring to avoid the salt (Michigan). He did whatever he needed to do regarding the order and my '25 is scheduled to be built in early February with an anticipated delivery in March. Right where I wanted it...

Are you going to store it for the winter?

That's not rust in the normal sense, as those are thick castings. The spindles would take 50 years to corrode enough to be a concern. Ford and GM actually use the casting patina to lock the bearings and balljoints into place better than just threads can do.

2 1/2 years old now. I did get the truck undercoated right at the time of purchase.

Surface rust on the following parts I can see without crawling under it.
  1. Muffler and all exhaust components
  2. CV Axles

I installed the Mabett Fender Flares on my 23 Mav XLT, so hopefully they will protect the areas that Ford has had rust issue's with. I have seen F150's that don't appear to be very old with rust around the rear wheel wells. Grrrr

No, I'm not going to store it. By March, especially late March, the winter here is (usually) appreciably over except for occasional bouts of snow which typically don't stay. Once I take delivery, I'll just keep it clean.

1. Yes the cheap stainless that they used is a problem. That's going to be a $600 fix on an EB, or $1200 on the Hybrid with the exhaust heat exchanger. The aftermarket stainless is either much better or about the same quality, depending upon how much you pay for it. However, wet roadsalt in the snowbelt will destroy stainless, so its somewhat moot. NaCl + H2O = NaOH + HCl (hydrocloric acid).
2. Rust on a solid shaft will take an incredibly long time to become an issue.

So the exhausts on my two, 15 year old dodges is still good, are you saying the exhaust on our maverick won't last this long?
