Ok, I really kinda missed this one function from my Honda Pilot where it gives the "top-down" view where you can see the link between your car and the tow hitch and trailer behind it. I use it all the time when I need to back off with a trailer attached. It also helps when you try to set up the hitch connection when you back to the trailer.

I'm surprised that the Maverick backup camera doesn't offer this function. But I kinda figured out a hack. You just need to lower your tailgate halfway, using the middle position. It will point the camera in that direction.

Thoughts?

Never had an issue using the little + icon in the top left of screen when backing up to my trailer but I don't have a vehicle with the ability to display a top down view so maybe that is better?

Next time I need to hook up my trailer I'll try your hack and see if it makes hooking up my trailer easier.

Hey. Saw this before when a member posted a demonstration video. Worked great. I haven't tried it yet but definitely will. Thanks

The + icon on the corner of the touchscreen will zoom in to approximate the top-down view of the rear bumper/trailer hitch.

I've had no issues with the current implementation. I used the + once, but I think simply having the camera back there at all makes hooking up a trailer easy.

Cool! We haven't hooked up the boat trailer yet, but have to check this out. Just got the Maverick last month, not exactly boat weather.

I've had no need for a view from that camera besides what it offers...
BUT...
I sure wish there was a camera up by the third brake light that might offer the same dual view - straight out the back and downward. Would make keeping an eye on the bed contents a little easier when the tonneau is folded up or removed.

The only trailer I use (so far) is small enough that it disappears behind the Maverick and having a higher mounted camera would make backing up with a camera easier.

The top down view that shows your vehicle and all that surrounds it is accomplished by integrating the front, rear, and sideview mirror cameras. Unfortunately, the Maverick only has rear cams, but there is a vendor who does make a 360º top down system for the Maverick. Sorely tempted to get it, but not a financial priority at this time. Check it out.

I would be worried about bumping my tailgate into my trailer crank handle. Especially a trailer with a short tongue that has a winding crank handle.

I only see a dash cam for the Maverick, The 360 degree camera is for the Raptor truck. Have to have Sync 3 audio system. My maverick is not sync 3.

Seems you are correct. My apologies. This site at one time listed this camera system as being compatible with the Maverick as well as the Ranger, but I no longer see that description. I noticed they have other 360 view camera systems that are more of a universal fit, but since the Maverick does not have side view mirrors with camera mounts, I don't see how they would work. I did notice the company does have camera mount add-ons, but I'm not sure these would fit the Maverick.
