Hello Friends,

I have been tracking my mileage through Fuelly since I got the truck in January. Around the 2000 mile mark I started resetting the Trip for each tank and recording the MPG reading alongside the hand calculated number. This is from 2000-7000 miles on the odometer.

Ford Maverick Adjusting AFE Bias - 5000 miles of Data from my Hybrid Maverick 1688678083634

I had figured it was between 5-10% but I now have an exact number (63) that I could adjust the AFE bias down. AKA from 1000 to 937. I think I will probably take it down to 950 (5%) to get started.

I will continue to track mileage through Fuelly and will update this thread after I have more data after it is adjusted.

Have you adjusted your AFE Bias? How much?

I need to stop worrying about fuel economy and just enjoy my truck. The lift kit and oversized AT tires, not to mention the recently added roof tent, aren't doing any favors for MPGs.

But then, it still gets a lot better mileage than my old vehicle and is a whole lot better looking and more fun!

Maverick is a great platform. Easy to customize for many purposes, from maximum economy to work utility to weekend fun to low-riding street truck. Truly a vehicle with something for everyone.

Your mindset kinda reminds me of an old friend of mine that bought a Prius, about 2002. He didn’t get super mileage but he didn’t care, he drove it like he stole it. To his recollection, if it were a non-hybrid small car, his mileage would have been much worse. He was happy!

I'm getting 46-48 this summer driving like a grandpa, coasting in neutral, using cruise a lot and keeping it in Eco mode.

Can others chime in on how much of a difference a bed cover make concerning MPG? I read of reports of 3 miles per gallon. I know the weather make a difference since I average 38-40 MPG in temperatures below 40F.

I lose about 0.2 mpg for every 1°F over 90°F. With AC running.

That's how I am. I got the Hybrid so I know the MPG is good but not worrying about details. I'll check it on dash after a long trip to see how it did but otherwise just ride it

My AFE is set to 970 after two adjustments. Seems to be pretty darn accurate now. You can really tell the penalty you pay for highway driving or hauling stuff.
