Found this interesting and don’t think it’s been posted.
Wow! Thank you for a clear, concise and easy modification. I am looking forward to my XLT and this will be the 2nd mod I make… the first will be my seat position!

Love it! I almost pulled the trigger for the pad on my XLT, but I’m glad I didn’t now. This seems like it could be more capable, at a cheaper price, than the Ford option.

And with wired Carplay/Android it kinda lessens the situations where you wish for it. So it’s nice to have but not hundreds of dollars nice. The DIY upgrade makes more sense.

Another even cheaper option we’ve brought up previously is a $30 - $40 USB battery bank that has a Qi charger built in on top. But not sure how well the phone would stay in place.

sliding around, having yet another thing to charge, and lack of power to get through phone cases all make the battery option tough. This built in method just seems like it would work so much better. Most of the time I doubt I’ll even bother with CarPlay and set the phone in the tray.

Why can’t I just plug my Apple wireless charger into the Maverick USB-C port?
Pretty sure You can…. Different strokes for different folks.

Strangely enough, I’ve read it doesn’t provide the expected amperage you would want to make the wireless charging effective. The Qi charging is lossy up to 1/3 of energy. I may be mistaken, but the USBA and C ports may put out less than 1 amps at 5v.

Wondering if someone will swap the factory charger with this or any other aftermarket charger and notice a difference. Mine will stop charging intermittently due to what? I don't know... Overheating, cheap part etc... It's mild annoyance on long trips to see that I lose battery life. At the minimum, I expect it to maintain the battery charge.

A tip for anyone doing this or any wiring mods. He made a common error in his connection. You should always use shrink-wrap on any of those type splices. It takes no effort to pull that connection apart and it doesn't stop moisture or anything else from corroding the splice.
Shrink wrap not only seals this splice but adds a ton of strength it will never pull apart.

I wondered about that, and will definitely shrink-wrap mine.

What do you mean, the first [mod] will be my seat position? Is this mod the addition of power driver’s seat? If so, what companies provide parts & labor? I am not a DIY guy.

Or does this mod push back the seat so you have more leg room? If so, how many additional inches will you get?
