XLT vs. Lariat Debate

I went with XLT, but there were a few things I really wanted in the Lariat feature set but for what this truck is and what it's meant to be I couldn't really justify spending over $31,000 for it and the Lariat with the stuff I wanted would've ran about $35,000-$36,000.

No taillights are not LED and Headlights are auto LED on all trims including the XL.

Does it still work if you lock via the handle touch sensor rather than using the keypad?

Question is……Don’t all Mavs have the “Anti-theft alarm system”? If so why does the Moderator qualify his (her) answer with an “if”? My guess is that this answer is generic, for all Ford models. Just like the owner’s manual is generic across all Mav models. Too many times…..way too vague.

There's a spot to place the FOB under the mat in the center console that will allow you to start the truck with dead Fob battery. Same spot used when programming MyKey.

Are you sure? I just tested it again because I remember trying this months ago when I was thinking about leaving the key in the car.
On my Lariat lux hybrid. If you leave the key in the truck and get out with the window down and lock the door with the keypad.

Even after waiting a bit of time, you can climb through the window and start it with the button and drive off without ever touching the key. So leaving the key in was out for me.

Maybe I'm over stepping, I know the intelligent access doesn't work but maybe you can start it. But it's also no different than leaving a physical key in and them cranking it if they find it. I wonder if it's stowed under the rear seats if the signal will get blocked? I've had it were sometimes it wouldn't reach just because it was in my lunch bag and I had to pull the key out to get it to start.

I just tried. It actually won't even lock via the door handle if the key fob is inside.

Trooooo. Need to use the key pad to do so.

I ordered a low option Lariat over an XLT for three features you can't get in the XLT. Fake leather seats, push button starting, and a sound deadening windshield.

As far as I know, LED lights, both for the headlights and interior lights, are standard on all trims, even the XL. Annoyingly, no trims have turn, marker, or brake lights as LEDs.

I don't get the appeal of the little accent LEDs on the front or back. They don't look particularly functional.

As a non-car expert, just a driver, what difference does LED's make? Serious question. I've read here about people mod'ing the truck for led's but I don't understand why?
