For me the reason I went XLT was I like the interior better, love the XLT rims (I would need to buy rims if I got an XL), power locking tailgate, armrest in the back seat (my kids love using it), power side mirrors, cruise control (though that now comes with the XL) and more bed tie downs.

There is a price difference of almost $2600 between an XL and an XLT with nothing added. The only difference I see is wheels, rear armrest drink holders, change in color of certain pieces and the ability to add options. Is there anything significant I missed? I was considering upgrading order to an XLT but don’t see the value. Either one would be no options other than CP360 and hitch.
Also the tail gate lock (it locks and unlocks with the doors)

My biggest issue is Ford site isn’t entirely clear on some things. No XL to see in person on lot.
I was at Chapman ford pa. Yesterday they 7 or 8 xl hybrids starting around 27,000 and a total 17 to 18 mavericks.

I’m sticking with EB. More so now that they flipped the fee from EB to the Hybrid. Originally wanted to get her a hybrid when it was cheaper

I agree except this XL is for my teen daughter that doesn’t care or know the difference. She has a key now and wired CarPlay.
Lucky kid. Ours always got Moms hand-me-down when she got a new car. Happy wife, happy life.

Yes this has already been discussed many times.

If you are ordering a base XLT then no is doesn't make a lot of sense over the XL. The benefit of going to the XLT lies in the ability to add options not available on the XL like the luxury package, FX4 package, Tremor package, and several more.
Agreed. The only reason I would go to XLT would be to get the LUX with heated seat and steering. But the $5K XLT+Lux upcharge will buy a lot of thermal gloves and Carhartt. Even in the frozen tundra, heated options are only needed a few months a year. The math works in favor of XL.

I went XLT because I wanted the LUX package. Really the main reason.

Matter of personal taste really. XL was my original ordered choice but I found XLT with Lux Pkg on a lot and do love the heated steering wheel, seats, 2 X 400W inverters, bed cubby and LED bed light. I could have lived with the XL though.

It came down to what made sense for me.
The XL+4k+c360 build came to $37,770 (Canadian $)
The XLT+4k+fx4 build came to $40,600

$2830 ($2098USD) more to get skidplates, nicer wheels, AT tires, tow hooks, 6.5" dash screen, some drive modes, hill descent, power tailgate lock, bed tiedowns, nicer grill, a less drab interior and the all important fx4 sticker was worth it to me.
I would have probably spent a good chunk of the difference on wheels, tires and skid plates right off the dealership lot, and then I'd have had to do the 13" digital dash and a bunch of other things to mod the XL's deficiencies. I like doing modifications but I don't always have time or energy to be playing in the garage and some of the XLT's advantages would be expensive or quite time consuming to do, or just aren't feasible at all, like tow hooks.

It's worth mentioning that it's very easy to add the bed cubby and extra tie down points to the XL. There are plenty of threads on here with the part numbers. Or if you order the bed rails that includes the extra tie down points. My XL has two bed cubbies which you can't even get on the Lariat.

Don't cherry pick my post then post inaccurate info. The lux package has more than just heated seats and a steering wheel at least it did when I purchased it.

Here's a quick run down of what mine came with.

8-way power driver seat, six way manual passenger seat, 400w/110v inverter with cab and bed outlet, USB in rear console, bed tie down locking rails, spray in bed liner, heated mirrors, body colored skull caps, key fob with remote start, leather wrapped steering wheel, LED box light, trailer hitch, and a windshield wiper de-icer.

I didn't even include the heated seats or heated steering wheel........so yeah a bit more than you mentioned and it certainly didn't cost 5 grand.
