Smart people notice things! Dumb people just buy whatever looks fancy, or they have money to blow.Ford was a bit sneaky on this one. The Base price of the two is the same, yes. But there's a big "however" here.
EcoBoost requires AWD, which is a $575 option (I'm looking at that right now at Ford.com). MSRP $27,570 (excluding shipping & aquisition fee)
Hybrid is FWD, with AWD as a $2220 option. MSRP w/AWD $29,215
Therefore, when you equip both with AWD and no other options, the Ecoboost is $1,645 cheaper.
Note that this changed recently. I had looked at this exact thing on Ford.com on February 5th. At that time, AWD was a $1020 required option on EcoBoost (making the hybrid awd $1200 more expensive). With the recent base price increase, ford decreased the AWD option from $1020 to $575 for the Ecoboost to maintain the same price point, whereas the price of the hybrid increased overall.
