Ford was a bit sneaky on this one. The Base price of the two is the same, yes. But there's a big "however" here.

EcoBoost requires AWD, which is a $575 option (I'm looking at that right now at Ford.com). MSRP $27,570 (excluding shipping & aquisition fee)

Hybrid is FWD, with AWD as a $2220 option. MSRP w/AWD $29,215

Therefore, when you equip both with AWD and no other options, the Ecoboost is $1,645 cheaper.

Note that this changed recently. I had looked at this exact thing on Ford.com on February 5th. At that time, AWD was a $1020 required option on EcoBoost (making the hybrid awd $1200 more expensive). With the recent base price increase, ford decreased the AWD option from $1020 to $575 for the Ecoboost to maintain the same price point, whereas the price of the hybrid increased overall.
Smart people notice things! Dumb people just buy whatever looks fancy, or they have money to blow.

Google "AI" is wrong.

THERE IS NO GEAR DIFFERENCE BECAUSE THERE ARE NO GEARS

This thread is about the 2025 hybrid Maverick. Hence, same fuel economy on 4K package.
The rear differential has no gears?

Hi Folks,

I’m looking to buy the 2025 AWD Hybrid, but I’m hesitant about adding the 4K towing package.

I’m quite sure I’ll never need more than the standard 2,000-pound towing capacity versus the 4,000 pounds with the 4K package.

How does this impact resale value? Will it significantly affect the resale of the Maverick?

I’m also curious about the statistics—how many people actually add the 4K package on their AWD models? When I asked ChatGPT, it reported that only 9% to 12% do.

What do you think?
As my dad always says, it’s better to have and not need, then need and not have 🤷🏽‍♂️.

Mine is a 23 hybrid. I did add the tow hitch since I do tow my 5.5x8 aluminum trailer regularly.
Didn't add the 4K package. Just didn't see any need for it.
I don't tow more than 2000-2500 lbs. On the rare occasion that I might have to tow a higher load I would probably figure out borrowing someone's F150.
Saving the package cost and gas mileage seemed smarter for me.

You never had the option on getting the 4k package on a 23 hybrid. The package is only available on 25 hybrids.

No. The price difference between a Hybrid AWD and an EB AWD according to ford.com is $1645. $575 is the difference in price between a EB FWD and EB AWD. The price difference between a Hybrid FWD and Hybrid AWD is $2220

XL Hybrid w/AWD: $31,505
XL EB w/AWD: $29,860
Difference: $1645
Should fact check before you praise hybrids! Almost 2k difference in price!
go to ford.com. go to maverick. go to 2025. build your own. maverick XL.

select 2.5L Hybrid engine.
select 2.0L EcoBoost engine.

Changes required:
...
Net Price Change $575.

2.0L EcoBoost - $29,860
2.5L Hybrid Engine - $29,285

If I need to include screenshots I'll be happy to. If you're adding AWD to the Hybrid, that's up to you. But you can get a Hybrid for $575 under the price of a EcoBoost.

Yes, but the Hybrid will be FWD, the EcoBoost will be AWD. Not exactly apples to apples.

never said anything apples-to-apples on options, and neither did jro25. jro25 simply said ~35k miles to recoup the cost, which could be several thousand dollars. i simply pointed out you can get a hybrid for cheaper than an ecoboost.

We are talking AWD here. Have yet to see almost ANYONE get a FWD one in 2025.

“The trailer towing package gives you a different final drive ratio (which will let you accelerate quicker but will slightly decrease fuel economy)”

InCert evil laugh~~~~~~~
More power, Scotty I need more power!

IMHO Every Maverick out there
Eco And Hybrid alike would benefit substantially from a bit lower gearing in the rear end.
Just a bit, kinda like the 4KT

I don’t need it, prolly never will,,
But,,
Same principle as a condom.
I’d rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

Guys that slightly lower rear end can be felt with half ton load to ya know.
