I have a 2024 Maverick XLT. I wanted Android Auto, which this has. I had hoped that the Android auto was wireless. I do not know if it is wireless or not.

On my 8 inch screen, it shows the Apple Car Play choice but not the Android Auto icon. Hopefully I will not have to have my phone tethered to the truck in order to use Android Auto. Can anyone help me with this?
I have this one. Works great with Android Auto and Apple Car play. All apps are on screen and can use voice commands.

You can also just press the steering wheel Talk button (next to the forward/back) and it will activate Google's listening for a command.
Yes. My issue had AA locked up for some reason. Neither "OK Google" or the steering wheel button would wake up AA. Unplugging/plugging the USB was the only fix. It's only happened twice and is probably more of an issue with the AAwireless and AA on my phone rather than the Mav.

Mavericks don't have Wireless Android Auto or Wireless Carplay built in.

The Moto MA1 is nice and on sale

I used one for a year with no issues. Then was given an Aawireless adapter that works with Android And iPhones so I use it now.
I just got this one.it works really well

... When I rented a car a few months ago, it had Android Auto wireless in it. ...
When I rented a car last year, I saw a number of the previous customer's text messages still in its cache. As a result, I never connect my phone to rental car systems. Just a thought...

Just need to remove your phone from the car stereo settings. Same thing if you sell a phone or give it to someone else, you wouldn't want to stay logged into it.

I guess this thread might be as good as any to ask, but has anyone seen an android auto wireless dongle that supports any of the various bluetooth HD audio codecs? (aptX, LDAC, LC3)

The audio isn't going to sound "HD" from the Ford Maverick car stereo anyway?

base? no. there was in fact a joke about that some months ago when someone was obsessing about indexing speed / performance of their USB stick filled with FLAC lossless music, and they had a bone stock base system.

my highly modified sync3 system? yes, it could matter. I'd be interested to try and find out.

the codec will still matter to some extent, assuming your source music has decent quality such as spotify ultra-high, tidal, or apple music.

the standard SBC codec in bluetooth is not awesome. there is a lot of info on the interwebz about apple lossless (ALAC), aptX, LDAC and others. it primarily relates to listening on high quality headphones, but it definitely would apply to carfi wireless playback as well... if supported.

Quite true, I'm sure. But also really easy to forget when rushing to the airport and turning in a rental car. I may be paranoid but that doesn't prove they're not out to get me... 🤪 Identity theft will do that to you.🤬
I've been disappointed overall in the utility of connecting my phone to the Mav. Over BT, RCS text messages never display like SMS/MMS ones do. This has caused me significant grief since my GF can't get a text thru while I'm running errands. I use a Garmin GPS for nav, so I'm not dependent on nearby cell towers and eating up my phone data cap. So, even mapping (via Android Auto on USB) is also NFG to me. No other phone functions seem useful enough to bother. Didn't know I was a closet Luddite until now...

I've seen a setting in developer options of Android Auto that may do something?

Ok, on the Geocaching app that I use, after going through a few steps I end up with a map on my phone that shows me a visual of where I am going. On the phone, i click on the car icon and boom, the android auto comes up on the Hyundai's screen. I am wondering it that feature just isn't available on Ford's Android auto, or if I have a learning curve to overcome.

there's some features related to HD audio. your phone has to support them, and then whatever you're connected to as well. this is what my pixel 8a shows when I'm connected to the wireless AA box I linked a couple of replies ago.

A question to anyone about these wireless adapters. Do they provide any function over being wireless from the basic phone to USB wired connection? Any benefit for apps and such? Just curious.

For the most part, no.
However, now that Google is blocking mirroring apps like Fermata on Android 14 unless you root your phone, the AA wireless adapter has a developer mode that can enable it.
