I've seen a few threads on here regarding the Wireless Android Auto. The two big ones seem to be Motorola M1 and AAWireless.

Since its Prime Day 2.0, they have a lot of them on sale. Anyone familiar or try one of the other brands?
I strongly suggest you don't go down that rabbit hole. All of them are lousy. Each one has issues and you will end up trying to return them or sell them.

FWIW my AAWireless has been 99% flawless. I've only had two occasions where it didn't initialize with the truck on startup so I just had to unplug/reconnect it.

I purchased this one :
Ossyl Wireless Android Auto Adapter for Factory Wired Android Auto Cars, Plug & Play, Support OTA Upgrade with 5.8Hz Transmission Rate Cool1.4 https://a.co/d/gS5tWEr

Been using it about a week now and so far it has worked flawlessly.

I have the Motorola MA1 and it's fantastic! Connects before I'm out of the driveway!

I ended up buying the Motorola MA1 around Black Friday for $70. It's been sitting in the other room with the rest of the stuff waiting for a truck to put it on.

I'll put in another vote for AAWireless. The only time it has not automatically connected with my phone in my pocket is if I turn off the Maverick and leave for less than about 2 minutes before returning. For example if I am just running in to drop some books off at the library or whatever. If I am gone for less than a few minutes then it SOMETIMES gives me a message that it cold not connect when I return. Solution is to just unplug the USB for a moment and plug it back in. Only has happened to me a couple times, and the only common element is that I had just turned the Maverick off a minute or two earlier (and was now restarting it).

Found a good deal on an MA-1 at Target. Took it out in the parking lot to setup with my LG-V30 phone and my Ford Maverick XL Hybrid. Android Auto works great when the phone is connected via a wired USB connection. No joy trying to get the MA-1 connected. But then the phone is only running Android version 9. I'm thinking that was the problem. I returned the device.

Call me stupid, or a moron, but why not use the Andriod Auto by plugging your phone into the port of the truck?

I can do everything on mine that the dongles provide, so why spend the money on a dongle?

All one has to do is download apps to their phone to allow things the factory doesn't allow.

It's really just a convenience thing. I didn't want to spend the money for one either, but got one for Christmas. Now I probably won't go without one.

Just one small trip to town, for example. Plug the phone in, drive to the gym, unplug the phone and go in the gym. Come back out. Plug the phone in. Stop at the gas station and unplug the phone. Come back out. Plug the phone in. Stop by the store. Unplug the phone. Get back in the truck. Plug the phone in. Get home unplug the phone.
Just that was 8 times plugging/unplugging the phone.
Wear and tear on a charger port is also a concern.

Also if you need to check a message or email while you're stopped or parked, you don't have a cord dangling off of the phone.

The factory system tells you when you get a message, allows you to reply via voice.

Guess some are more attached to their phone then I am.

I can watch YouTube without a dongle on the factory screen. Just think being "wireless" you could run the risk of people on the same frequency as you are hearing your conversation.

It gets old real quick plugging and unplugging the phone all the time.

I do not live by my phone, but can understand those who do not wanting to plug in.
