Windshield crack!

Less than 1 week after picking it up, I went through a car wash and the windshield cracked!

Not a crack like you normally see with a rock chip or something, but a huge, C-shaped, clean crack. See photo.
Anyone ever have this happen to them? I am thinking this has to be a manufacturing issue, but the dealer says they wont cover it! They told me to go through insurance or go after the car wash. Am I crazy or is that insane?

You can see where the rock hit the window in the second picture, tiny little dot in the middle of the crack. It's on your insurance or the car wash.

Windshields are too thin ,only about an 1/8 inch thick ,ya really . Go look ! two super thin pieces of glass and clear plastic in between .I'm surprised bugs dont crack it . Ford should recall these and put in thicker windshields . Seems more and more Mav owners having this problem & just going to get worse,one guy here is on his 3rd. It is a safety issue.

thin/soft glass seems to be a common complaint industry wide. glass is heavy an obvious target for weight reduction.

It Happened AGAIN! Three for three, my windshield has been hit three times by pea sized (or smaller) pebbles and all three cracked the windshield! This glass cant take being hit by anything. Hell, Im afraid to spray glass cleaner on it for fear the bubbles might crack it. I'll be on my third windshield in 10 months. Ridiculous.
Never had a vehicle with such fragile glass. Mercedes 7years, zero cracks, volvo, 10 years zero cracks, current toyota 4 years, zero cracks, current Mazda 2 years, zero cracks, Rivian 10 months, 3 impacts & 3 cracked windshields.

My Safelite quote was around $1800

I heard over 2 million Maverick windshields have cracked. Too bad you don't have a Jeep Wrangler - you can get a Gorilla windshield that has stronger glass.

Are all of the Maverick widshields the same? I ordered a Lariat and it lists it on the window sticker as:

ACOUSTIC-LAMINATE WINDSHLD

Is that the same on the XL and XLT? I thought it funny to list if there wasn't something different about it. They don't list the door windows, for example. If it's different, which one's are cracking? All of them?

I heard over 2 million Maverick windshields have cracked. Too bad you don't have a Jeep Wrangler - you can get a Gorilla windshield that has stronger glass.

Lariats have the Sound Screen windsheild. Does a good job of reducing noise. Love mine

OleFordGuy, from your signiture it looks like you've had your truck just over a year now. Have you had a cracked windshield yet?

In just the last week, I have heard something hit my windshield that definitely sounded like a rock and not a small one. No cracks. Hoping for the best. '23 XLt.

Just put a sheet of corrugated tin over it and put a camera on it. Just like driving in reverse, but better. I'm sure that all vehicles will eventually go this route along with AI driving for us
