Loving my truck. Less than 2 weeks owning it and just had a rock hit the windshield and crack it.
I had my Sport Trac 15 years with a Bug guard and never had a rock hit it.

Will this spread? Just had it tinted last week.

Edit: Was on the way to the dealer for a bolt stuck in the rear passenger tire. 🤬

Sorry, that sux!

Call one of those place that specialized in windshield, they should be able to tell you if it's fixable.

Ironically, I just checked with my insurance yesterday after all the cracked windshield threads. They said it's covered under the Comprehensive glass deductable for $100.

Has anyone had luck with having a chip/crack repaired? Local place will repair it with Lifetime guarantee for $65.

Total windshield would be $100 deductible, but then I'd have to file a claim. Plus, all the other issues that could go with it.

Just had this happen to our brand spanking new Volvo XC40 last week. Our insurance also covered the repair for free under comprehensive coverage. We took it to the SafeLite folks, and they fixed it in an hour. There is a little spot still left where you can see a tiny bit of the original impact, but they told us it's repaired for life and warrantied the same.

I had a nasty chip in my windshield when it had less than 1k miles on it. Local repair shop said that they can fix most cracks that are smaller than a quarter. They did a great structural repair but I still kind of see the crack. Its been 3k Miles since then and its still holding just fine. Good luck OP!

Get that filled ASAP. Seems like those chips always spread, sooner or later. I've had to replace entire windshields when I didn't get around to having them fixed in time--which is far more expensive. But I've never had a filled one spread.

I had 2 cars with chips. Had them filled. One was not noticeable when done, the other I could still see it but kept it from spreading. Had many replaced too.My insurace paid in full for a chip fill I have a deductable for replacement. Let a glass guy look at it. But on a new truck I would probably want it replaced unless they can guarantee what it would look like.

If you do get it replaced, make sure they install the acoustic windshield that the lariat comes with

Put some heavy tape over the star until you can get it fixed. If the crack goes to the edge then new windshield. However if not then star can be fixed easily. My insurance covers all windshield stars for free.

i would get it repaired asap... because you may have a long wait for replacement windshield and if it spreads would not be good

Having it repaired tomorrow. $65 with lifetime warranty. Will see if my insurance covers it or not.

Well, repair company said the Windshield is Not repairable. There's barely a chip that would allow resin to fill it and it's already spread around an inch on one of the legs.

Looks like I'll be trying to get a replacement scheduled. Great!

Edit: Replacement scheduled for 4/21 through Safelight. Work order shows $600 for the Lariat Windshield and $250 for Calibration.
MyState Farm glass deductible is $100, then add another $125ish for getting it tinted again.
