I am type 2 diabetic and reduced circulation keeps fingertips numb and dry so I have to touch the inside of my lower lip to allow the touch screen to workWhat the hell is so hard about the touchscreen. I love it!
I'm 83... About every fifth time I pick my phone up I am looking at myself looking at my phone.... Selfie time??? And the "integrated control panel" is still despised by many. My friend has a Mazda 3. The trim level she got for her newest one is the same trim level that her previous one had, but they downgraded the audio, took away her Bose system and have a very basic, very crappy factory system with noThankfully, they still have a volume knob.Oh yeah! Don't have to look at that at all while driving.
Just push a button and keep finger on it - see what happens - if the wrong thing push it again. Move finger and try again.
Actually - most used at the top of the side with pivot motion - not bad at all.
Radio - eh, but probably controls on steering wheel anyway.
I can't feel which button is under my finger on the Mav without looking - is that upper vent selection, or recirc, or AC? Knob is obviously easy, and I do see fan being most used once temp is set less often - so at least correct order.
In all honesty, most of the touch screens now are a lot more intuitive for the common functions than they were the last time they appeared. I think they actually have studied ergonomics this time rather than just putting everything there and making you figure out where it is. Some will always prefer a buttons just like some prefer manual transmission. Truth be told, we are getting old and will soon be out numbered by those who grew up on touch screens and would think that buttons are silly. Time changes, trends change. Life goes onFord has been trying to figure out the right balance of buttons vs touchscreen controls for many years. Several years ago they tried moving most controls to the touchscreen and got enough complaints that they added back some buttons. Now it looks like they are trying again to move as many controls to the touchscreen as they can. Physical buttons are an added cost when you already have a touchscreen.
Maverick setup is best. Auto high beams, no need to touch them.I liked the floor mounted high beam low beam switch. The steering colum stem is hard to pull if a car approaches you while turning a sharp curve. I could always use my left foot anytime.
That's a cool looking Wagon.I liked how the starter button was under the clutch on my Studebaker

Thanks! My Dad and I restored it back in 1984 after I finished music school to haul my gear around in. Long gone now, kinda wish I kept it.That's a cool looking Wagon.
Correct but if I had the option, I would prefer at least some buttons. there is too much on the touch screen, and way too much that is buried in sub menus. I don't mind the touch screen, but I would prefer that some of the menus not be buried. My next vehicle purchase will not hinge on whether or not it has buttons or screen controls....
Thank you for that. It got my lazy brain thinking. I got into the owner's manual (on screen, electronically in mine). (Procedure carried 24 to 25) I disabled the audible chime and can move my truck 10ft or 1000ft without that audible annoyance.Forscan can fix this for you.
And you can even disable the seat belt chimes with a specific 'programming method'.
I'm retired Vol Fire Dept, I've seen my share.I would urge you to always buckle up regardless of how far you are driving. I have pulled a dead drivers head out of the windshield. It is not a pretty way to go. My late wife was stopped to turn left into work on a 2 lane road where the speed limit was 25 MPH. She was in a 1984 Pontiac Sunbird. A Ford F150 short bed was stopped behind her. A tow truck towing a semi hit the F150 in the rear while going 50 MPH. That drove the F150 into my wife's car and pushed them both down the road. All 4 tires on the Sunbird blew from being pushed, the trunk lid ended up against the back of the driver's seat. The lady in the F150, not wearing her seat belt ended up in the trunk of the Sunbird dead. My wife had a cracked rib from the seatbelt and bruising along with arm pain from gripping the steering wheel but she walked away. 2 years later to the day she had a woman go left of center and hit her head on totaling another car. Again the other woman was severely injured when she hit the steering wheel and windshield from not wear the seat belt. My wife was sore for a week or so.
It was a rule after that she could not leave the house on that date.
If you don't like the thread don't read it.Oh, goodie.....yet another thread about touchscreens vs buttons...
