Got it installed last night. Ran out of daylight so backup camera and swc aren’t working yet. Should have time this weekend but for now I’m enjoying the new sound. Huge difference from this and the DSP I was using for the subs.

How did you have the DSP wired up before to the factory HU?

I used the LocPro harness to tap into the speakers. Besides the dsp the factory unit also blocks certain frequencies. I know you can set the eq in FORScan to correct this but it just didn’t sound that great.

The SWC are now working but another harness is needed for the backup camera. I don’t care enough about it to get the parts but it is an option if you wanted it.

So is this a 3D printed face plate with the cubby opening or what? The better sound would be great but going from a 8-in screen down to under a 7-in screen would also be a big a letdown in my opinion.

I'm very happy with the sound system in our 24 Lariat Hybrid. So no need to spend the money or time on an upgrade.
Yeah my B&O sounds just fine to me. I like Rock n roll to classical.
Not into country but it would sound good on this system.

The thump thump of ghetto music, rap, whatever is not music to me. It’s just loud noise.
I do like R&B

It’s a kit from metra.

Thank you for your contribution.
You really helped further the conversation on replacing the factory radio.

Are there any 8" aftermarket stereo options that will work with it? Sync 4 is ok, but not as good imo as a Alpine or Kenwood Excelon hu.

The kit will only fit a 6.8” screen and there’s only a select few that will work. The aftermarket radio has to have the chassis separate from the screen.

Does the mounting kit look like you can MacGyver it to handle a larger screen? I see the larger pioneer and I'm debating if it's worth trying

So with this set up do you lose any vehicle setting/menu options that are only available in the stock HU?

I think the factory system is just fine. But then my favorite groups are the Eagles and Bob Seger and I really done like cars next to mine at a light with THUMPING bass

I was looking at the 10.1" screen that Pioneer has, just wondering if it's workable to try to work something out with that kit installation wise. I have a local hook-up that has a couple of the modular units that may be able to do a trade so my $$$ expenditure would be less than getting the 7" unit.

It's just frustrating in the XLT to not have wireless Android Auto and depend on a dongle when my radio itself seems to not accept it (or other similar units)more and more as I have my truck.

edit: ugh, that one might not be modular....
