As someone who owns an Escape with both the app and keypad, I can definitely say the pad has been more useful than the app. The app is finicky at times; I've had moment I tried to remote start or unlock/lock my vehicle via the app from sight distance, and the app will say it did its job though I can clearly see it didn't. There have also been times when my phone was deep in my pocket and the car wasn't picking up my key fob and I had to use the door pad. So there despite the advantages the app has, the keypad is just too practical off a feature.

First because I hate mobile phones and don't own one. Second because when I'm out for a hike or a walk, I donMaverick't want to carry keys or anything else I can lose.
not
I don't own a cell phone either. I do own XLT

I own 2023 Maverick XLT. It has the keypad and I'm thankful it does. Use it often. Ford is awesome to include the keypad.
I don't own a cell phone.
If I did have access to app I would use it to start the Maverick on cold days. Would not use an app to open the doors. Inefficient.

Why do people get keyless entry on the door, if you can unlock your door with your phone via app?
For those times when I go out to the truck to get what I forgot to bring in from the store and I forgot my keys.

The app is wildly unreliable unfortunately. I have also gone hiking in areas where there's no cell service which makes the app unusable.

Because some of us grew up in the age where a phone hung on the wall and pulling it off to dial the pass code is not going to happen.

I personally don’t carry my phone around much at all. I would rather use my God given fingers to touch five numbers anywhere, anytime, for any reason and gain access to my truck.
I grew up in the age of keys. I’ll stick to that. Especially when in areas of poor cell service.
But I do have the app. Its fine.

If I want to go to the beach, or hike in the park, I leave phone, keys, all kinds of stuff in the car and lock it. With keypad I can get my stuff when I am ready to leave.
And if you leave your vehicle for another person to use you can just leave the keys hidden inside.

Hell I lock my car while it’s in the garage. If I need something out of it, I’m not trying to find my phone. Phone app is useless except for alerts.

As a Lariat owner, I have about 9 different ways to unlock my truck, one unintended way I discovered is by using my Apple Watch app, which came in handy as left my key fob and phone in my truck so i could go on a mountain bike ride in terrain that I would not want to lose keys or phone at.

The App may not be supported in 5 years which means no way to keyless enter unless on the fob

I don’t have a cell phone. Don’t want one. (PEOPLE CALL ME!)
But I do have an iPad. When I am on wifi I can connect to my truck………
IF MY TRUCK IS AWAKE!!
More often than not, it is in DS or BS mode.
Say again……MORE OFTEN THAN NOT!
Love my Lariat Mav.
But find the battery situation ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING!

I use mine all the time and find it adds good value to the truck. The app would be a last resort.

The whole point of a key remote is to be able to lock or unlock when you are not right at he car, and most of the time I have a pocket big enough for the key and attached house key, but rarely ( a girl thing?) do I have a pocket big enough for either of my cellphones, much less both (personal and business) and if the key falls out- can pick it up. If the cell phone fall out, it may break. One cell phone I have removed security and am about to remove on the other, I am so sick of , having to remove gloves, waking it up, to put the code in (a good shield prevents using thumbprint) - . I would never have bought it. car if no key remote. I wouldn't mind one on the door , but the glove thing,,,

I think in 5 years, most cars will drive themselves and you can give commands via smartwatch.
