For the same reason people can’t accept ev’s
Change is hard , non normal or not “what we’ve always done “is hard to grip .
a 89k luxury 4 door car carrying 5 people can go low 9 second quarter miles and 0-60 in a little over 3 seconds !911 turbo , lambos and superbikes can’t pull that !
Nothing but hate .
Driven normally they go 350 miles and charge insanely cheap off the solar panels on my house!
Little truck that can !
Their is a maverick on here that has done 11.97 quarter mile already , can still through 1000 pounds in the back and look good doing it .
Don’t drink the hateraide people .
I love mine with big tires on it ! 32” going to 33”!
That’s my opinion ,what’s yours?

Haven't had anyone say anything bad about my truck that I know of. Been asked how I like it and have had it called a nice truck. One guy thought it was all electric. Had to let him know I purchased the worst mpg version haha

Recently met a member from here by chance and we compared trucks. It was cool seeing 2 near each other. Still kinda rare in my area though they are starting to populate around and about.

I haven't run across any yet. All my full size truck friends (one has a Chevy, one a Ram 1500 and the other a Hybrid F-150) love my Maverick. The funny thing is they all seem to love the interior.

There are a ton of lifted trucks in my area with custom exhaust, wheels, tires, etc. etc. As an avid hunter, it's always been a source of amusement to me how few ever have mud on them. I also rarely see them hauling anything in the bed.

I had a 1966 Chevy Corvair Corsa which I took to few local car shows/meets. Might been better received if at a VW or Porsche gathering.

Some “visitors“ at the show seem interested, they never heard of Corvairs. Asked lots of questions. The hot riders /gear heads not paid much attention.

I picked up a 1962 Jaguar Mark X long ago that came without an engine or transmission. The floors were rusted through, so I fixed all of that. Spare parts weren't readily available, and the price of a restored one is extremely low. So, I put a built 327 in it along with a new interior. None of the mods were irreversible so that the car could be restored at a future time.

It seemed to offend most folks in some way. The purists clutched their pearls because of the Chevy engine. I received lectures on proper restoration from Volkswagen Beetle owners. Only the street rodders seem to be interested in that car.

Seeing some doing engine conversions in Jags. Car looks great.

Speaking of conversions and Corvair, few owners drop a V-8 in Corvair, putting engine in back seat area. Have to put radiator in front, route piping to it. flip transmission over. There are kits to do this.

They'd still be jealous of your gas mileage. ;)
Just after I bought my Mav a guy bought a 1500 RAM. He was talking about getting 18mpg driving to work.

Coming up on one year and no visible haters seen or heard in Cali…. Plenty of other problems going on here, it’s California! Just love for Skye and all things MAV.

Plenty of fruits and nuts in the meantime…

Here is Skye doing her thing:

Yeah, the numbers are surely climbing. As availability improves I think these are going to saturate the truck market and be super common to spot multiple each time you're out and about. As intended this will be popular with practical truck owners and start to convert a good # of family haulers also.

That will probably insult the people who associate big trucks as part of their identity even more than now. They likely view the smaller badass of practicality as diluting their cool factor. I would bet a lot of the insults are trying to dissociate the Mav with what they've tied to their identity in their head. Sad really, to hang so much of your self view on something so external as the car you drive.

I just got mine last month, never got to capitalize on the unique factor or feel good about owning my first car worth more than I paid. But bright side is that we can all hopefully look forward to much better part availability and possible cheap maintainability!

The lifted Pavement Princesses around here (a few are RWD like this one) are rarely seen on a gravel county road. They seldom haul anything more than air, for fear of scratching the bed.
