Why do "for sale" postings attract so many a-hole comments?

Mine's not for sale right now. If I do ever sell it, I definitely won't advertise it on this forum. Every for-sale posting I've seen so far seems to attract a bunch of angry old men who need to piss all over the seller's face. "You'll never get that much". "You're a greedy jerk". It's just plain abusive and adds nothing to the listing.

These people posting for sale ads here (at any price) are doing forum members a service. They're giving you a chance to buy a hard-to-get Maverick today. Yea, usually over MSRP - because that's where the market is.

I'm glad to see the forum administrators (I assume it was them) interceded in the latest abusive post, from some nice guy in CT offering a great truck at a decent price, deleted all the stupidly abusive comments, and closed the thread for comments.

Seriously, what's wrong with people?

For one, they almost always get put in the "General Maverick Topics" sub forum, instead of the proper "Mavericks For Sale" section.

If people can't be bothered to use the correct sub forum, then they should be able to handle public criticism of their sale ad.

For two, I don't think it's right to sell a commodity mass produced vehicle for more than MSRP, especially a used vehicle. We're all entitled to our opinions.

It is more widespread than you think. I believe it is the semi anonymous nature of an online forum.

People on my local community/town Facebook group will post something like "Well folks, we are finally leaving this magical town after living here for 50 years and raising our 17 kids here. Loved every moment. Our house is listed at such and such web address if you know someone who would love our house and this town as much as we did".

Then come the dozens of comments about how the house is overpriced (when it is actually listed at a fair market value), how the sellers are crazy/greedy, how they are part of the housing affordability problem, etc.... This is coming from people who the sellers often at least recognize the name of, if not actually know casually from their time living here.....our town isn't that big.....

One reason I want to trade in my F150 instead of selling it privately. To many people waste your time. Wasceasier before internet got only serious inquires.
