Gen x here. Buying it to add to my collection of vehicles. Plan is to lower/wheels and a few other mods and to have my son take it over in 2 years when he turns 16. Figure it will be a cool daily for him so he can keep miles off mid short bed Sierra.

I might be biased by saying I've seen a lot of us Boomers in the truck. Some Millinieals and Gen Z, with 2/3 men. I think the original theory behind a lower profile vehicle appealed to women who didn't want to use the tailgate to access the bed and not have to climb into the cab.

A vehicle for all I would say. Economical price and operating costs and versatile. You don't see many adds for them, but Ford is selling all they can build, unlike their other models.

OK, Boomer 😂.

Seriously though, I'm a Boomer and proud of it, though my body says otherwise.

Who is the target market for Ford Maverick?

2022 Ford Maverick is a Big Winner with Millennials and Gen Z, and that's No Cap

I am just curious, how many of us are Millennial or GenZ?

I would guess that much of the demographic from the Maverick comes from people who read car magazines or hang out with people who do. :D Since the Maverick hasn't been targeted in advertising, and aren't staying on dealer lots long, the general public who walks into a car dealership and buys whatever looks cool in their price range isn't buying them.

This skews the age demographic a lot higher than many vehicles.

The target market is men who want a truck and have nothing to compensate for.
As a Millennial working in manufacturing and rebuilding my house, this truck is probably the best thing I could have bought. I don't need a huge f-250 to show off to my friends. Half of my buddies are drowning in truck payments because they made that choice.

Pre-Boomer. Gave up the notion that a vehicle defined who, or what, I was. If you look upon a vehicle as a tool, and purchase the tool that meets your needs, then when it ceases to do so, you find a tool that does. Doesn't mean you have to get the minimum available, instead look for better quality tools that work well, and show some creative thinking in their design. A product that meets those parameters will be embraced by all people who value these concepts, no matter their age. Just realize you can't always pick a winner, sometimes we have to admit to making a bad choice.

There is no 'one size fits all', right or wrong, answer, more like "different strokes for different folks". Instead of being concerned about where we fit in, just be thankful we are blessed with a creative free market offering so many choices to meet our needs and wants.

I knew nothing about the Maverick. My friends in Oregon ordered one in cyber orange. I immediately got on the band wagon.

The original target was to be an entry level model. What it turned out to be is one of the few jack of all trades vehicles with something for everyone. It supercedes the SUV by having an external bed for dirty stuff, and still gets 40 mpgs.

I've never really been interested in trucks. I needed a new vehicle, though. I went to a dealer association-sponsored show at the convention center here last fall, where most makes and models are displayed (nowhere near the participation they had 10 or 20 years ago, though).
Walking around and looking, I really saw nothing that appealed to me in any price class. I like cars, not trucks or SUVs or crossovers.
But the Maverick caught my eye for a few reasons. First, it's not huge. Second, I got in it and found the interior room was decent. I'm over 6 feet tall, and I don't fit comfortably in lots of Japanese cars. I've always fit well in Fords. Third, the one on display had a tonneau cover, and I realized that with a tonneau cover, the Maverick is actually the closest thing to a sedan Ford offers these days, especially when you consider its underpinnings.
Finally, it's affordable.
If I hadn't seen a Maverick at that show--in conjunction with all those other vehicles that didn't appeal to me--I don't know if I would have even considered one.
