The original target was to be an entry level model. What it turned out to be is one of the few jack of all trades vehicles with something for everyone. It supercedes the SUV by having an external bed for dirty stuff, and still gets 40 mpgs.

Yea, but what Ford was telling in the marketing podcast they did was, it was young urbanites. The point of my thread here is that we are not young urbanites.

You can sell a young person's car to an older person, but you can't sell an old person's car to a young person.

It's been true at least 60 years and will likely continue to be true.

Just retired at 68. No more company fleet car. I want a truck and considering 2025 Maverick.

Boomers. Then Gen X. Then nobody really cares because it is such a small fraction of the ownership pie. Just like people downsize to smaller houses when their kids grow up and move out, those same people that were using their F250 to haul a 35 foot toy hauler with sand toys for the adults and for the kids + food and water for 5, extra gas cans, etc. etc., they no longer need a big gas guzzling truck. They’re no longer willing to risk multiple broken bones from an ATV crash and there’s no kids coming along. So they are using their Maverick for supply runs to Home Depot and to get up into the mountains to stay at a nice comfy cabin in the woods.

I am a boomer. I don't really need a truck, and certainly not a full bed or a 200 or 300 series. I will use the bed, as some of the things I will haul weren't the best to put in the rear of a Honda Passport.
Mostly, it is fun to drive, and fun to accessorize!

And yet another old boomer. I needed an inexpensive tow vehicle...truck or not.
So far, I've used the bed to carry a bed-full of mulch bags and about 30 styrofoam medical containers. (my wife's chill packs) to the recycling depot. I may do a utility shed in the back yard when i can figure out where and locate the foundation.
What I'm curious about on this forum is the ways that people mod out their trucks. I think that's interesting and maybe a bit unique.

What other vehicle get 40 mpg, can carry bulky items like a refrigerator, and costs under $30k?

Seriously looking at a 2025 Camry sedan for my wife - hope to squeeze under $30k on that one as well.
