Well, yeah, seems lots of opinions. I started a thread quite a while ago about the lugging effect I was experiencing with my Maverick at times while driving around 35-50 mph and the tach showing around 1200 RPM. I compared the effect to driving a standard one gear too high. There were some that never experienced that effect and others claimed high octane was of no benefit.

Moral of the story, to each their own, your YMMV..
Correct me if I’m wrong but my experience would back up the effect altitude has on the vehicle, hence the lack of availability of 93 octane in higher altitudes. I’m in Boise and we sit at around 2100 ft and I can definitely feel
the difference in octane in all the vehicles that I’ve owned since I’ve been up here.

The old butt dyno is not going to feel anything. HP isn’t what gets you moving down low and very few if any are ringing out the EB to hit the max HP curve.

Plus 80-85% of EB owners are already driving a 225-230hp version of the EB because they fill with 87, and these are the same folks who will tell you the extra power from filling with 91/93 is unnoticeable and a waste of money.

TL;DR - You can’t tell a difference.
Are you saying you lose 25 hp using 87 octane? I believe the 250 hp rating from Ford is using 87, and using 93 might give you a cpl hp. Thoughts?

OK, then-I hope that rings true, and we'll see what the old butt dyno says:). Since down here in Mex, I'm basically only using 91+, my current EB certainly feels very peppy, and hopefully, we will continue with that happy butt feeling. Cheers
The 250 hp rating is using 87 octane.

the 250hp rating is most decidedly not using 87. The 2.0EB is mapped to 91 octane.

If they were naturally aspirated vehicles it's because they have less air to produce power, but that lower atmosphere pressure makes knocking less likely so they don't need as high of octane.

Forced induction motors are less affected because they usually can build more boost to compensate for the lower ambient air pressure.

Interesting. So if you're running 93 octane what would the horsepower be?
250hp. You would need a tune mapped to 93 pump to achieve a higher peak hp.

I ran 93 in my Tremor because it was 87 or 93 so I had to bump up.

Got it. Here in Northern California it's 87 or 91.

Yep, the one using the results of AI (which is just an educated guess) versus the statement directly from Ford about where their HP numbers came from.

Happy new year Maverick fans. As I semi-patiently wait for my 2025 Tremor to arrive, I continually see reviews of the 2025 hybrid AWD and other hybrid models. I have yet to see a single review of the new eco-boost. I would specifically be interested in seeing how the decrease in horsepower feels to someone who already has an eco-boost. Hopefully it will be negligible/non-noticeable. So if anyone has a new eco-boost, please share your experience.!
Not sure why anyone would want one when one can get the hybrid AWD now unless to save a few grand. That few grand savings would evaporate pretty fast with the difference in gas mileage to boot. Just my opinion though.

Hello. I'm still waiting for 2025 EB to show up. I think what most of you are forgetting is the torque number. The Hybrid has 155 HP and 155 Tor. The EB has 245 HP and 271 torque. I've driven both. The EB is divinely quicker. One has to put the trans in Sport mode to feel the difference. Torque is what get you off the line when starting. I plan is to tow a trailer. I need the HP.

Oh wow. After I provided it directly off Ford’s website which cites the actual test standard used……..

You doubled down using uhhh AI search results??

It’s you. You’re definitely wrong.
